Going Romance 2025

Going Romance 2025
3-5 December 2025, Venice

Conference

Going Romance is a European conference series that focuses on Romance languages from the perspective of current linguistic theorising and experimental research. Over the past 30 years, it has evolved into a major European discussion forum for theoretically relevant research on Romance languages.

Going Romance 2025 will be hosted by the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies (DSLCC) at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Besides the main sessions, the conference includes a workshop on “Gender in Romance languages”, exploring how formal approaches can inform communication policies.

Call for papers

We encourage submissions of papers at the intersection of linguistic theory and Romance languages. Beyond this general scope, there are no specific restrictions regarding the topic, subdiscipline, theoretical approach or methodology for the main session.
Submissions to the workshop should focus on how theoretical approaches to gender can inform inclusive communication policies in the different Romance languages.

Presentations will be 20 minutes long, followed by a 10-minute discussion period.

Submission guidelines

Abstracts should be written in English and no longer than two pages A4, including references, examples and any relevant figures or tables, with 2.5 cm margins, font size 12, single-spaced. The file must be anonymous in both the abstract and the filename.

Submissions are limited to a maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per author (or two joint abstracts) for the entire conference. Please note that no changes in authorship will be allowed after submission.

Deadlines:

  • Abstract submission deadline: June 20th, 2025
  • Notification of acceptance: July 31st, 2025
