How to use IT services

  1. To access the computer facilities reserved for students enrolled in courses within the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics, you must have an account. An account consists of a login and password and allows access to the labs on Via Torino.
To obtain one, each student must register using the computer located in the corridor opposite classroom 1.
  2. The account must not be transferred or lent to others, it is personal and the student is legally responsible for it.
  3. Accounts will remain active until the end of the current academic year, after that date they will be deleted.
  4. The operating system is subject to a 1GB disk quota.
  5. Department staff may verify proper use of the labs at any time by requiring students to show their magnetic badge, which is provided upon registration and must be carried with them at all times.
  6. The use of the labs is intended for educational purposes only, therefore it is strictly forbidden to use the computers for personal purposes such as chat, private interests, etc.
  7. Use of the computers is limited to existing software, and it is forbidden to run software owned by the user or downloaded from the internet. It is also reiterated that installing and using unlicensed commercial software is strictly prohibited and is punishable by Legislative Decrees 518/92 and 248/2000.
  8. Modifying the allocation of hardware resources or system configurations in any way is prohibited.
  9. Users of IT services must respect:
    • the confidentiality of information: in particular, reading and copying protected material is prohibited,
    • system security, by not disclosing any passwords in their possession.
  10. Users of IT services are encouraged to avoid wasting resources: in particular they are advised not to overload systems with uncontrolled programs, not to store large files such as images and videos unless necessary for learning, and not to use abusive games and/or programs.
