Rethinking Culture and Creativity
6th workshop, 29-30 October 2026, Venice

Workshop
From global crises to local actions. Shaping the future of culture

On 29-30 October 2026, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice will host the 6th edition of Rethinking Culture and Creativity, an international workshop dedicated to exploring the role of culture-led regeneration and innovation processes.
The workshop brings together scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world to exchange ideas and present cutting-edge work in cultural economics, policy and management.

The workshop 6th edition focuses on how global crises – economic, social, environmental, and geopolitical – are reshaping cultural systems and calling for locally grounded, innovative responses. The conference explores how cultural and creative sectors can act as drivers of resilience, inclusion, and sustainable development, translating global challenges into concrete local actions, policies, and practices.

Attention will be paid to the transformation of cultural and creative industries (CCI) value chains, where artificial intelligence is increasingly reshaping creation, production, distribution, and consumption processes, extending the boundaries of creative work while raising critical issues related to governance, skills, authorship, and value generation.

In addition to academic paper sessions, the conference will include a dedicated session for case study presentations by sector experts, policymakers, and practitioners.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • cultural governance and policy adaptation in times of global crises
  • multi-level cultural governance and local policy innovation
  • transformation of cultural and creative industries’ value chains in the age of AI
  • artificial intelligence, authorship, and value generation in creative production
  • sustainable business models and new revenue logics in cultural sectors
  • culture-led urban and rural regeneration strategies
  • cultural and creative clusters as drivers of local development
  • cultural organizations’ resilience and adaptive management practices
  • skills, labor markets, and professional transformation in the creative economy
  • cultural diplomacy and international cultural relations in fragmented geopolitical contexts
  • culture as a tool for social inclusion, community building, and territorial cohesion
