2026 conference

Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the University of Sassari are pleased to invite you to the SASCA PhD conference in Economics 2026. The event will take place on September 17-18, at the Department of Economics of Ca' Foscari University of Venice, in San Giobbe Economics Campus. The conference will bring together promising Ph.D. students from many Institutions to encourage the exchange of ideas and networking.

Submissions by PhD students and recent PhD graduates in any economic field are welcome. We are looking for complete, as well as work-in-progress papers in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, applied microeconomics, applied macroeconomics, finance and banking, environmental and ecological economics, behavioural and experimental economics, econometrics and quantitative methods.

Registration and programme

The conference will last two days, with multiple sessions held sequentially and grouped by topic.
During the conference, each speaker's session will consist of three main parts:

  1. presentation (20 minutes)
  2. discussion (5 minutes)
  3. Q&A (5 minutes)

Please note that there is no participation fee to attend.
The organizers will offer coffee breaks and a buffet lunch to the participants on each day of the conference, together with a social dinner on September 17th.
Accommodation is not provided. Each participant will arrange travel and accommodation on their own.

Keynote speakers

Leonardo Melosi

Leonardo Melosi is Professor of Economics at the European University Institute. He boasts publications in top academic journals, such as American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies and Journal of Monetary Economics. His research focuses on Macroeconomics, Applied Econometrics, Monetary Economics.

Felipe Carozzi

Associate Professor of Urban Economics and Economic Geography at LSE, Felipe Carozzi is a leading researcher in the topics of Urban Economics, Housing and Land Markets, Political Economy, and Applied Microeconomics, with publications in top academic journals such as American Economic Journal, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Urban Economics and Journal of Environmental Economics and Management.
