Elisa CURTI

Elisa Curti completed her university studies at the University of Bologna where she graduated in Classical Literature (July 1999). She was a pupil of the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa: in 2005 she obtained a Diploma of Advanced Studies (PhD) in modern philological and linguistic disciplines, discussing a thesis on Pietro Bembo's literary apprenticeship. She spent several periods of study abroad, gaining scholarships at the Warburg Institute (2000), the École Normale Supérieure (2003) and the University of California, Los Angeles (2004).  
 

In the following years she obtained several research grants in Italian Literature at the University of Bologna (2008-2010; 2012-2017; 2017-2018) and a post-graduate grant from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (2010-2011). Adjunct lecturer (2005-2008; 2009/2010; 2016/2017) and teaching tutor (2010-2017) at the University of Bologna, she has taught and held workshops in Italian Literature for the TFA and PAS courses of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2012-2014). Since 2018 she has been a temporary researcher (type b) at the Department of Humanities of Ca' Foscari, where she teaches Italian Literature. She is part of the Doctorate Committee in Italian Studies at the same university.
 

Her research interests are critical and philological and focus on medieval and humanistic-renaissance literature. She has focused in particular on the following topics:
 

Boccaccio and Fortune
the genre of novels
Angelo Poliziano in the context of Laurentian Florence
Humanism in Ferrara 
Pietro Bembo.  
 

Another line of research concerns the poet Olindo Guerrini and Bolognese culture between the XIX and XX centuries.

She has to her credit monographs on Pietro Bembo, Giovanni Boccaccio and Celio Calcagnini and the critical edition of Angelo Poliziano's vernacular letters, as well as numerous essays in journals, volumes, and edited collection. She has participated as a speaker at numerous national and international conferences. She is a member of ADI, Associazione degli Italianisti and SFLI, Società dei Filologi della Letteratura Italiana. She is a member of the scientific committee of the "Griseldaonline" and "Schede Umanistiche" journals of category A, and of the "Quaderni Veneti. Nuova serie digitale QV".
Since January 2020 she has been the scientific director of the Venice research unit of the PRIN 2017 Re.Novella project (Il genere novella nel Rinascimento italiano: repertorio, database e inquadramento historiografico); in 2018 she was the winner of the "Fondi di primo insediamento" 2018 of Ca' Foscari with the ArsNove project (Archivio Storico Novellistica Veneta. Indagine sulla novellistica veneta fra Quattro e Cinquecento).

She holds the National Scientific Qualification as a first level professor 10/F1 (Italian Literature, 2021).
