Curriculum vitae
Mimmo Cangiano is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He is a scholar of comparative literature, with a focus on Western European literatures of the 19th and 20th, centuries. His main areas of expertise are European modernisms, far right-wing cultures, Marxism. He published the volumes L’Uno e il molteplice nel giovane Palazzeschi (Firenze, Società Editrice Fiorentina, 2011); La nascita del modernismo italiano (1903-1922). Filosofie della crisi, storia e letteratura (Macerata, Quodlibet, 2018, finalist at the Edinburgh Gadda Prize), The Wreckage of Philosophy. Carlo Michelstaedter and the Limits of Bourgeois Thought (Toronto, University of Toronto Press, 2019), Cultura di destra e società di massa (1880-1939) (Nottetempo, 2022),Guerre culturali e neoliberismo (Nottetempo, 2024).
He received a PhD in Romance Studies from Duke University (2015) and a Dottorato di Ricerca in Italian Studies from University of Florence (2009). He has been Lauro De Bosis Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, Visiting Professor at Colgate University, and Assistant Professor at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
