Curriculum vitae

Leonardo Buzzavo has been Associate Professor until July 31st 2024 at the Department of Management of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where he gained a B.A. Business Economics (magna cum laude) in 1994 and a Ph.D degree in Business Economics and Management in 1998. He has also gained a one-year scholarship at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

His research has been focusing on strategy innovation, business models and entrepreneurship with specific reference to automotive distribution architectures. In the past he also dealt with lean production and lean thinking.

From 2018 to July 2024 he has been Coordinator of the Master Degree of Marketing and Communication.

From 2010 to 2014 he has acted as President’s delegate for the valorization of the brand, history and facilities of Ca’ Foscari and as a Member of the Board at the Fondazione Ca’ Foscari (www.fondazionecafoscari.it).

He has co-ordinated the start-up phase of the new Ca’ Foscari Alumni Association (www.cafoscarialumni.it).

He carried out active roles in the international research network ICDP - International Car Distribution Programme (www.icdp.net) from 1994 to 2016.

He carried out teaching and training activities at various institutions and companies and he has been speaking at over 200 conferences and seminars in over 20 countries, mainly on themes related to automotive marketing and distribution strategies.

He is Program Coordinator for Automotive Dealer Day (www.dealerday.it), the European leading b2b event for the automotive distribution chain and cofounder of Quintegia, for which carries out scientific collaboration on projects regarding training, research and events in the automotive field.

He has authored many publications, including academic reviews such as Economia & Management, Finanza Marketing & Produzione, Mercati & Competitività, Sviluppo & Organizzazione, InternationalJournal of Automotive Technology and Management and magazines such as Mondo Ecomomico, Il Sole 24Ore, Quattroruote and AutoPro.

Within the field of non-scientific publications he has contributed to the meta-novel “Le Aziende In-visibili” – “The invisible firms” (edited by Marco Minghetti & the living mutants society Ed. Scheiwiller, 2008) within the stream of Humanistic Management; he has edited and produced a book with writings from people with different business backgrounds (“Il secondo cassetto”, “The second drawer”, ed. Matteo Editore, 2007); he has produced the book “Jorge Scassa – Mixed Media Art” focusing on digital painting techniques ed. Matteo Editore 2007; he has contributed to the Whaiwhai guide “Amor” for the city of Verona.

Besides Italian (his mother tongue), he speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Whenever possible, he enjoys playing the piano and rowing, as well as travelling and reading about cultural anthropology, neurobiology, cognitive psychology and creative processes) and he loves travelling to explore new contexts.
