The course consists of an extra credit compared to the ordinary programme. The course aims to develop transversal sustainability skills concerning the 2030 sustainable development goals.
Competence for sustainability aims to stimulate the deepening of the issue of sustainability in its many aspects (see the 2030 sustainability development goals) and are based on voluntary activities.
1. Knowledge and understanding: knowing the main objectives of sustainable development.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: knowing how to use the concepts learned to propose sustainable approaches to a problem.
3. Judging ability: knowing how to evaluate the effects of an action in terms of sustainability.
4. Communication skills: knowing how to interact constructively with the teacher and with the other students using the correct terminology.
5. Learning skills: knowing how to make logical connections between topics.
There is no specific prerequisite.
The contents must be agreed from time to time with the student, in relation to the 2030 sustainable development goals. Given the inclusion of the course in a scientific context, three examples of contents of particular interest are:
1) life on land, SDG 15 ;
2) affordable and clean energy, SDG7;
3) responsible consumption and production, SDG12.

Depending on the chosen topic, one or more texts reported by the teacher present at the Campus and / or material provided by the teacher.
The student will produce a written paper or alternatively a multimedia document, or carry out a short seminar presentation accompanied by an abstract, depending on the type of topic chosen.
Once chosen a specific topic concerning sustainability, of interdisciplinary nature, the student explores its aspects by discussing it gradually with the teacher.
