I obtained a Bachelor and a Master in Statistics applied to Social Sciences from the University of Padova, my hometown in Italy. During my master studies I spent one year as an Erasmus student at the K.U.Leuven, where I returned to do a PhD under the supervision of Irène Gijbels and Gerda Claeskens. My thesis discussed methods to extend traditional Generalised Additive Models to allow the (robust) estimation of mean and variance function.

My research interests are in the use of non-parametric regression models and in the extreme value statistics applied to hydrological and environmental problems in general.
