The International Universities Rowing Race, organised by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, IUAV and CUS Venezia, will take place on Sunday 5 September at 6.30 p.m.
This is the 17th edition of this competition which involves historical galleons in the context of the Historical Regatta.
This year in addition to the Ca’ Foscari-IUAV team of Venice, teams from CUS Roma – Università Romane, the University of Trento, and the University of Vienna will also join the competition.
The teams will row for about 750 metres, starting from Rialto bridge and arriving in front of Ca’ Foscari. The first round will award the 3rd and the 4th place, and the second and last round, which will take place around 6:30 p.m. before the arrival of the gondolini, will award the 1st and the 2nd place. The awards ceremony will be held immediately after the race at Palazzo Foscari, the main seat of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

The International Universities Rowing Race has been organised with the support of Comune di Venezia and Ve.La S.p.A. The galleons are traditional vessels provided by Comitato Cittadino di Venezia per la Regata delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare Italiane. Libreria Cafoscarina and Vetreria NT Murano Glass di Nicolò Trabuio have also contributed to the event.
