ANVUR evaluation: Ca’ Foscari’s excellent research

Earth Sciences, but also Humanities, Languages, Historical-Artistic sciences and Economic-Statistical Sciences: these are the areas of research in which Ca’ Foscari University of Venice is at the top (in the top three spots), according to data published on Tuesday 21st February 2017 by the National Agency for Evaluating the University and Research Systems (ANVUR).

This data confirms the University’s ranking as the third best University in Italy for quality of research, which was published by ANVUR in December 2016.

ANVUR’s study has reviewed the period 2011-2014 taking into account all the areas of research subdivided by dimension (dimension is determined by the total number of scholars based in each area).

These are the results that place Ca’ Foscari on the podium:

Earth Sciences: Ca’ Foscari came in at first place (University dimension in relation to the field of study: small)

Ancient Civilizations, Literary-Philological sciences, and Historical-Artistic sciences: Ca’ Foscari came in at first place (University dimension in relation to the field of study: large)

Historical sciences, Philosophy and Pedagogy: Ca’ Foscari came in third (University dimension in relation to the field of study: medium)

Economic and Statistical Sciences: Ca’ Foscari came in third (University dimension in relation to the field of study: medium)

Rector Michele Bugliesi commented: “It is an excellent result, confirming that the general ranking, published in December, sees Ca’ Foscari as the third best University in Italy for research. The new data highlights and awards the quality of our scientific activities in the fields that we've always flourished in but also demonstrates our great merit even in areas that are new to us, like Earth Sciences, which we have been awarded first place for amongst other Universities of small dimensions. We are waiting for the complete data, in which we hope to find further confirmation of a result that recognizes the quality of our scholars, and that motivates us to continue with the policies that we have put into place over time to recruit the best talent and sustain the research with investments in up to date infrastructures, services and initiatives".

The complete data will be published on the ANVUR website.
