How much does a Minor programme cost?

• Minor programmes are free of charge for all Ca’ Foscari undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Students who are attending another University, Academy or Conservatory are entitled to a reduced contribution, i.e., the Minor fee is 336 euro  (320 euro + 16 duty stamp). Please, read the following FAQ carefully for more detailed information on the reduced contribution.
• External users who are not attending any undergraduate or postgraduate degrees at Ca’ Foscari nor in other Universities can also attend our Minor programmes. The Minor fee is 496 euro (480 euro + 16 euro duty stamp).

I am currently enrolled as an undergraduate/postgraduate student at another University. What should I do to have access to a reduced contribution? 

Once you are successfully enrolled in the Minor programme, do not proceed with the payment. Please, contact the Enrolment Unit through the following link: https://www.unive.it/data/36736/. You will be contacted and given information on how to get the reduced contribution.

Are Minor programmes free of charge for Ca’ Foscari students who are about to graduate?

Yes, they are. If students are up to date with their payments, i.e., the tuition fee for the current academic year has been paid, Minor programmes can be taken for free.

If I enrol as a graduating student, can I complete the Minor after the graduation?

If you have included the Minor in your study plan, you must complete it before graduating. If you have enrolled in the Minor, but have not included it in your study plan, you can conclude it even after obtaining the degree.

Can I attend single courses within one Minor programme? e.g. Only one or two exams out of three? 

No. A Minor is a didactic and thematic programme and it is non-divisible. Only if you enrolled until a.y. 2019/20 and have already included single courses of a Minor in your study plan, you will be able to take exams without completing the Minor.

When can I enrol in a Minor?

You can enrol in the Minor whenever you prefer. Including the Minor activity in your study plan is not binding: even though you add it the first time you fill your study plan, you can enrol in a Minor in another year.

Can I attend a Minor programme even if the ECTs cannot be included into my study plan?

Yes, you can.

Can I attend two Minor programmes during the same academic year?

Yes, you can. The first Minor programme is free of charge for all undergraduate and postgraduate students. In order to enrol to further Minor programmes, you will have to pay the enrolment fee. Please refer to the information on our Minor web pages.
It is possible to attend more than one Minor. It is however very important to make sure that the first enrolment procedure is completed, before continuing with a second one.

I have submitted the enrolment application, but I am still pre-enrolled: what should I do?

Nothing: the Enrolment Department will finalise your enrolment in the Minor. You will receive a confirmation email.

I just enrolled in a Minor and in my personal area I can see only the Minor career, while the Bachelor’s Degree career has disappeared. What should I do?

Nothing: it is a display error that resolves automatically in 24 hours.

I enrolled at Ca’ Foscari in a.y. 2019/20 or earlier and I would like to attend a Minor. What should I do?

Open a ticket and send your request to the Innovative Educational Unit.

Is it possible to withdraw?

Yes, it is. To withdraw from a Minor you must fill the withdrawal form attaching the receipt of the online payment of the duty stamp (16 euros). If you are a Ca’ Foscari student, please notice that the following withdrawal, further Minors will not be free of charge.

Courses

When do Minor programmes start?

Minor courses are scheduled according to the Ca' Foscari academic calendar. Some Minor courses are held during the summer period (June/July). Generally, Minor courses can either follow terms or semesters, depending on the Department that delivers the course. For more detailed information, please refer to the webpage of the Minor programme you are interested in.

Is attendance mandatory or is there a minimum percentage of attendance? 

Attendance is mandatory only if the Minor you have chosen has limited access. In this case, the details with respect to attendance percentages are clarified in the call for admission.
For Minor programmes that do not have a limited access, attendance is strongly recommended.

How many hours of classes does one course include?

Each Minor course includes 30 hours of classes. Hence, for each Minor programme there are 90 hours of classes. 

Exams

How many exam sessions are there for each Minor course?

There are four exam sessions for each Minor course. You will be not allowed to complete the Minor programme the following year. 

When can I take the Minor exams? 

Minor exams regularly follow the academic calendar and can be taken over terms or semesters, depending on the Department that delivers the Minor programme. The first exam session for Minor programmes that are held over the summer period is usually late July. 

Do final marks of the Minor exams affect the academic average of my Bachelor’s Degree?

No. If you included the Minor Activity in your study plan, only the ECTs planned will be recognised.

Study plan and ECTs

How can I include the Minor exams in the elective exams of my study plan? 

• Ca’ Foscari undergraduate students 
  You have to include the Minor Activity 12 ECTs [N00012] (or Minor Activity 18 ECTs [N00018] for students enrolled in the Business and Administration Programme) in the elective exams of your study plan. 
• Ca’ Foscari postgraduate students 
  Ca’ Foscari postgraduate students cannot include the Minor exams nor the Minor activity 12 ECTs in their study plan.

Do I have to follow a specific procedure for the ECTs recognition in my study plan?  

No, you don’t. Once you complete the Minor programme, i.e., you take and pass the three exams, the administration will validate the Minor Activity 12 or 18 ECTs in your study plan. If you are about to graduate and the Minor is still not validated, open a ticket.

I am interested in attending a Minor of the summer term but I haven’t included the Minor activity in the elective section of my study plan, and now I can’t modify it anymore. Can I still attend the lesson and take the exams of the Minor?

Yes, you can still enrol in a summer term Minor, attend the lessons and take the exams. However, as soon as the study plan becomes modifiable again, you must include the Minor activity in order to get the ECTs recognition.

Certificates

What certificates will I receive once I conclude a Minor programme? What should I do?

You can download certificates of the exams you have taken as well as a certificate of the Minor you have concluded from your Personal Area (Minor) >> “Certificates, Modules and Questionnaires”.

If you complete the Minor programme, you will also receive an Open Badge.

What is an Open Badge?

An Open Badge is a digital certificate that attests the knowledge, abilities and skills that you have developed attending a Minor programme. It is internationally recognised and can be included in your digital curriculum, as well as on Social Network profiles. Please, read more information about Ca’ Foscari Open Badges.

What should I do to get my Open Badge?

You will be eligible to receive an Open Badge only if you complete the entire Minor programme (three exams). In this case, you will automatically receive an email with your personal Open Badge within the year in which you concluded your Minor programme.
