Contacts, reservations, FAQs

The Chemistry is an open admission programme taught in Italian.

Admission to the programme

To enrol, you must hold one of the following qualifications:

Qualifications obtained in Italy

  • a five-year secondary school diploma (diploma di maturità quinquennale);
  • a four-year secondary school diploma (diploma di maturità quadriennale) with an additional integrative year. If the integrative year is missing, admission to the degree programme will be subject to evaluation by the relevant academic committee;
  • a European Baccalaureate diploma (or European Secondary School Leaving Certificate) obtained from European Schools located in Italy.

Qualifications obtained abroad

If you hold an international qualification, admission will vary depending on several factors, including whether you must apply for a student visa to enter Italy. Please follow the procedures outlined on the webpage Admission and enrolment with an international qualification.

Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)

The Chemistry degree programme requires adequate knowledge of mathematics, abstract thinking, and methodological rigour.

Your mathematics, abstract thinking, and methodological rigour skills will be tested during the TOLC-I test offered by CISIA. You are recommended to take this test in order to evaluate your level of knowledge at the enrolment stage. English TOLC-I tests will not be considered.

If you do not sit the test or if you score less than 17 out of 41, you can enroll, but you will be assigned the Additional Learning Requirement - ALR (Obbligo Formativo Aggiuntivo - OFA) in logic-mathematics. Please note the English language section is excluded from the total score, and the sciences section is weighted 10%.

If you obtained credit recognition for at least 3 CFU in mathematics when enrolling, you will be exempt from the OFA in logic-mathematics.

If you do not fulfill the OFA by September 30th, 2027, you will not be allowed to take any exams included in your study plan until its fulfillment.

To get more information about how to fulfill the logic-mathematics OFA, please consult the dedicated section on the Study page.

Taking the TOLC-I test

In order to take the TOLC-I test you have to:

  • register for the test on the CISIA website;
  • pay the 35,00 Euros registration fee.

You can sit the test at any Italian University holding the TOLC-I test sessions. The list of participating Universities and their scheduled dates can be found on the CISIA dedicated website.

If you are a candidate with a disability or with DSA, you can make use of individualized procedures for taking the test. Specific information on the available assistance is on the Inclusivity and disability services webpage. You can submit your request when registering for the TOLC-I.

Ca' Foscari organises TOLC-I tests in TOLC@HOME mode on the following dates:

  • March 24th, 25th, and 26th 2026;
  • April 21st and 22nd 2026;
  • April 28th, 29th, and 30th 2026.

Before registering for the TOLC@HOME test, please check the rules and instructions provided by CISIA about the technical requirements.

For additional information about how to register for the TOLC@HOME test, you can consult the CISIA FAQ webpage or reach out to the CISIA Help Desk [ITA] via telephone or email.

Enrolling

You can enrol from July 1st to September 30th 2026.

An additional enrolment time window will open from October 1st to October 30th, 2026. Enrolment in this period requires the payment of an additional fee of 50 Euros.

The enrolment procedure is carried out completely online.

The following steps must be undertaken:

  • Registration on the University website: consists of filling in your personal data, residence, and domicile. You should not carry out the registration online if you have already been enrolled at Ca’ Foscari.
  • Enrolment application: in order to submit your enrolment application, you must access the Personal Area on the website with your SPID  or CIE (Electronic Identity Card) and select the function Enrol for courses with no admission test. Once the course has been selected, you must fill out the enrolment form. While filling out the form, you can upload those documents that demonstrate your knowledge and experience  (e.g. recognised language certifications; records of credit recognition; self-certification, etc).
  • Once the documents have been uploaded, you must confirm all the data entered and proceed to the payment section.
  • Payment of the first installment of the tuition fees: the payment must be carried out using the PagoPA system, by clicking on the payment button when finishing the enrolment application procedure.

Failure to comply with the deadline specified above results in the loss of the right to enrol: if you encounter any problems, please submit a request by accessing this link: www.unive.it/faqsforstudents before the deadline.

Submitting the enrolment application and paying the first instalment does not guarantee automatic enrolment. The Enrolment Unit will review each request and complete the process within 7 working days. Once finalised, newly enrolled students will be notified via email.

Credit recognition procedure

The procedure for enrolment with credit recognition from a previous academic career, intra-university or inter-university transfer, involves the evaluation of your previously completed exams and the subsequent issuance of a credit recognition form.

The Ca' Foscari University, according to the European directives that norm the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), recognises equivalence: 1 CFU = 1 ECTS.

You can request credit recognition for the activities carried out in:

  • Bachelor's Degrees, or Master's Diplomas;
  • incomplete University studies as a result of withdrawal or lapsed status;
  • single courses;
  • Internship/traineeships/previous employment;
  • simultaneous enrolment.

If you are recognised with more than 48 CFU, you must request admission to the second or third year of this degree programme.

Year of Enrolment

The year of enrolment is determined on the basis of the number of University Credits (CFU) you have been awarded:

  • Up to 47 CFU: Admission is granted to the first year of the course. You are required to fill out the enrolment application. You will refer to the study plan for the a.y. 2026/2027;
  • From 48 to 107 CFU: Admission is granted to the second year of the course. For more specific information, consult the Admission and enrolment webpage for the course offered in the a.y. 2025/2026;
  • 108 CFU and above: Admission is granted to the third year of the course. For more specific information, consult the Admission webpage for the course offered until 2024/2025 a.y.

Candidates who request the inter-university transfer do not need to fill out the enrolment application, it will be arranged by the Enrolment Unit.

How to request your Credit Recognition Form

The request must be submitted from April 7th to September 15th, 2026. Candidates who enrol in the second time window (starting from October 1st, 2026) can submit their request by October 15th, 2026.
Click on the botton "Request your Credit Recognition Form": by selecting your bachelor's degree your request will be automatically forwarded to the relevant Campus.

The deadlines for candidates who request the inter-university transfer is December 4th, 2026.

The button "Request your Credit Recognition Form" will be available starting from April 7th, 2026.

You are required to upload the following documents:

  • a signed self-certification form listing exams. Please indicate for each exam: the name of the Course of study and class code, the name of the University, the name of the courses taken with their academic fields and disciplines sector and relative weight in CFU (ECTS), the mark and the exam date. This document might be available in your University Reserved Area: if it is not available or, if all the required data is not listed, you may use the forms on this page;
  • any exam syllabus in your possession.

Requests for credit recognition are to be submitted to the Campus. The Teaching Committee will evaluate your request. Once approved, the credit recognition form will be sent to you via e-mail. Please remember to sign the form.

The Credit Recognition Form must be attached during the enrolment procedure. If you are transferring from another University you do not need to fill in any entrolment request; the Enrolment Unit will create it for you.

Enrolment with credit recognition is subject to the fee payment of 300.00 euros: the payment invoice will be provided upon confirmation of enrolment.
You are not obliged to pay if you request credit recognition for:

  • activities undertaken previously at Ca' Foscari (for example, single courses) if the code of the lectures corresponds to that required by the study plan. In the case that some lectures do not fall among those included in the study plan, and consequently are listed among those that can be chosen by the student, you will have to pay the 300.00 euros fee;
  • inter-university transfer;
  • simultaneous enrolment

Credits will be recognised according to the Linee guida per riconoscimento CFU [ITA] (CFU Recognition Guidelines).

Activities recognised through a completed Master's degree or Master's diploma will not affect the final grade. However, activities recognised from single courses or from an incomplete university career resulting from withdrawal, expiration, or transfer will be taken into account for grade point average.

Enrolment with credit recognition is not allowed to students concurrently enrolled in another University degree programme, for which suspension has been requested.

Credit recognition forms for Ca’ Foscari activities

Candidates who wish to request credit recognition exclusively for activities carried out at Ca' Foscari, with the same course code as in their current study plan (e.g., single courses attended at Ca' Foscari), can fill in the recognition form themselves and attach it, duly signed, during the enrolment procedure.

Credit recognition forms for activities completed at Ca’ Foscari will be available by April 7, 2026.
