Awards and medals of the Analytical Chemistry Division

For the year 2026, the Division of Analytical Chemistry awards the following prizes:

  • Career Award. The award recognizes a career distinguished by excellence in research and by a strong impact on the dissemination and prominence of Analytical Chemistry at both the national and international levels.
  • Canneri Medal. Established to honor the memory of Giovanni Canneri, it is awarded to an Italian or foreign scholar who has distinguished themselves through research in the field of Analytical Chemistry.
  • Pelizzetti Medal. The medal is intended to honor the memory of Professor Ezio Pelizzetti for his creative and pioneering vision of Analytical Chemistry, by conferring a prestigious recognition on scholars who have distinguished themselves internationally in research on innovative interdisciplinary topics concerning the compositional and functional determination, both static and dynamic in space/time, of chemical systems, including theoretical, instrumental, and applied aspects.

The Division will also announce awards for young researchers:

  • Young Researcher Award, to be granted to a young researcher who has demonstrated particular aptitude and interest in studies and research activities in the field of Analytical Chemistry.
  • Silvio Sammartano Award: Best PhD Thesis. Three awards, funded in memory by the Sammartano Family, will be granted to young PhD graduates who were members of the Italian Chemical Society for the year 2025 and are authors of a doctoral thesis on topics specific to Analytical Chemistry.
