Minimum requirements (not negotiable):
- Students who would like their final thesis supervised should contact the professor at least 6 (bachelor's degree) or 10 (master's degree) months in advance. Only theses that are followed regularly by the professor (regular submission of work by the student, leaving time for review/feedback; frequent discussions) and completed **minimum** 3 weeks to one month before the upload date will be accepted.
- Minimum four in-person meetings.
- All advisees must sign and respect a Statement of Academic Honesty. Plagiarism is a crime.

The language of the news; of constructive news (in English, or in a comparative perspective with EN, IT, FR, SP)
Contemporary rewritings of fairy tales in English; in translation
Feminist/queer writings (in English; in translation; including with international implications/influence)
News/Journalistic translation (see the literature of the discipline)
Literary translation
Any topic related to TRANSLATION must be IT > EN (FR > EN also possible)

Curriculum vitae
ASHLEY RIGGS holds a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Geneva’s Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. Her postdoctoral project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and conducted at UCL (London) and the University of Granada (Spain), culminated in the book Stylistic Deceptions in Online News: Journalistic style and the translation of culture (Bloomsbury 2020). As the title suggests, Ashley’s research interests include journalistic style and cultural (mis)representations in news across languages and cultures, but also contemporary rewritings of fairy tales and their translations, and translation criticism. At Ca’ Foscari, she currently teaches English from various perspectives and for various purposes at both the MA and BA levels. She is also co-editor of the international online translation journal inTRAlinea (ranked "A" by ANVUR in Italy).
Ashley was born in Hawaii, grew up in California and completed a double undergraduate degree (French Studies and Psychology) at Smith College in Massachusetts. Before joining the Ca’ Foscari faculty, she lived in Switzerland for 22 years. Her working languages are English, French, Spanish and Italian.
