Curriculum vitae

Luca Baroni studied at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, completing his PhD in 2023 with a thesis devoted to the catalogue raisonné of Federico Barocci, an artist who remains central to his research. He has undertaken research at the Uffizi Galleries, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the British Museum, and is currently a Subject Expert in History of Art at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Since 2019 he has been curator of the MARV – Museo d’Arte Rubini Vesin in Gradara. In 2023 he became Director of Rete Museale Marche Nord, coordinating the cultural and museum activities of eight municipalities, including Urbino and Gradara, and more than twenty-five museums and cultural sites.

He has curated exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including Federico Barocci Urbino. L’emozione della pittura moderna(Urbino, 2024), Anselmo Bucci (1887–1955). Il tempo del Novecento in Europa (Rovereto, 2026), Rembrandt. Mestre da sombra e da luz (Brazil, 2025–2026) and Picasso, a construção de um gênio (Brazil, 2026). His research focuses particularly on European works on paper and on artists including Raphael, Dürer, Rembrandt, Goya, Barocci and Picasso.

Since 2025 he has served as Treasurer and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Edizione Nazionale delle Opere di Federico Zuccari. He also sits on the editorial boards of L’Idea and the Colnaghi Studies Journal.
