Curriculum vitae
Adelisa Malena (Bari 1969) studied history in Pisa and in Tübingen. On 1994 she graduated in Early Modern History at the University of Pisa and in 2002 she obtained a PhD at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. She was a grant holder at several research centres, among them: Istituto Storico Italo-Germanico in Trento; University Library, Madison Wisconsin (USA); Centro di Alti Studi in Scienze Religiose, Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano; Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa; Fritz-Thyssen-Stiftung at the Franckeschen-Stiftungen, Halle, Germany; Max-Weber-Kolleg, Erfurt, Germany. In 2001 she obtained a National Teaching Qualification competition in the 1st and 2nd Level Secondary School (sectors A043 and A050). She taught as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Pisa (2003), the University of Padua (2008-2013), the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (2008-2010), the Accademia Galileiana di Padova (2009-2010). From October 2010 she worked as a permanent researcher and since September 2016 as an associate professor at the Department of Humanities at Ca' Foscari, where she teaches: Early Modern History; Women's and Gender History; History of the age of Reformation and Counter-Reformation. She is one of the co-founders of “EMODIR: Research Group in Early Modern Religious Dissents & Radicalism”
Her research interests concern the religious, social, and cultural European history of the 16th and 17th centuries, women’s and gender history. She has been mainly working on: religious dissent in early modern Italy; the Roman Inquisition; the Catholic spiritual direction and female mysticism; women's religious autobiographies; religious conversions; Christian anti-Semitism. She is currently working on a project on confessional impartiality and transconfessional networks between Italy and Germany (17th-18th centuries); she is working on egodocuments in the early modern and modern age.
She is the author of about 60 scientific works, including 2 monographs; 7 edited volumes (alone or in collaboration); she has collaborated in the writing of a manual for high school; translated essays and books from English, German and French. She has organised 7 national and international conferences; she has participated, on invitation, in about 45 conferences in Italy and abroad. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the "Journal of Early Modern Studies" and of the "Archivio Italiano per la Storia della Pietà" ; she has been a member of the editorial staff of "Genesis. Rivista della Società Italiana delle Storiche", and is currently a member of its scientific board; she is a member of the scientific committee of the "early modern" series, published by Unicopli, Milan; She is member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Routledge Studies in Early Modern Religious Dissents and Radicalism, Routledge (UK).

- From 2014 to 2016 she was the Italian Coordinator for the international project Les dissidences religieuses en Europe à l’époque moderne: des constructions en mouvement (liens, langages, objets), carried out in collaboration with X.von Tippelskirch (Humboldt-Universitä, (Berlin) and S.Houdard (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3, Paris) (Villa Vigoni; Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme FMSH; Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG).
