Everybody Talks About the Weather | NICHE and Fondazione Prada

Fondazione Prada / NICHE

In the frame of the exhibition Everybody Talks About the Weather (Fondazione Prada, Venice, May 20 – November 26, 2023) NICHE and Fondazione Prada have started a collaboration for the scientific research and the public program of the show.
Dieter Roelstraete’s lecture at NICHE on 15 May inaugurated the series of events, which will continue in the autumn (4,5,6 October), both at Fondazione Prada and NICHE/Ca' Foscari, with insights into art, science, science fiction and the environmental crisis.

On the occasion of the opening at the Fondazione Prada in Venice (Ca' Corner della Regina), Radio Ca’ Foscari  interviewed curator Dieter Roelstraete. Listen to the interview.

“EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT THE WEATHER − PUBLIC PROGRAM”

Fondazione Prada, Venezia
Ca' Corner della Regina

“Everybody Talks About the Weather − Public Program” is a two-day symposium taking place at Fondazione Prada’s Venetian venue, the historic Palazzo
Ca’ Corner della Regina, on 5 and 6 October 2023. Organized in collaboration with THE NEW INSTITUTE Centre for Environmental Humanities (NICHE) at Ca’ Foscari University of
Venice, it investigates the topics and complex questions related to the global environmental
emergencies.
The symposium’s themes arise in the research exhibition “Everybody Talks About the Weather”, curated by Dieter Roelstraete and including scientific spotlights developed in
collaboration with NICHE. The show, on view in Venice until 26 November 2023, explores the semantics of “weather” in visual art, taking atmospheric conditions as a point of departure to investigate the climate crisis emergency. More than fifty works by contemporary artists and a complementary selection of historical artworks trace how climate and weather have shaped our histories and how humanity has dealt with our everyday exposure to meteorological events.
