This specialized course of "Business Japanese" aims above all to strengthen the ability of students to write and speak formally in Japanese at an advanced level. In this sense it will also be useful for those who will not work in Japan but want to learn a formal Japanese. The course, which takes place twice a week for the duration of two months, intends to present also various aspects of Japanese culture in the business world. Students will learn mainly how to write e-mails and how to answer the phone, and will also learn some words useful for communication in the business world and commercial relations.
Allpying knowledge and understandings:
-to talk on the telephone.
- to write e-mails.
It is highly recommended to have passed the Japanese language module of the first year of the Magistrale and to have a level corresponding to at least JLPT 2 (or CEFR B2).
The course of the prof. Kawai consists mainly of two parts:
1. Oral exercises: Many different situations for telephone conversation. Conversations in the business world. Some strategic expressions. (Monday, 7 times)
2. Written exercises: How to write e-mails. Commercial compositions in Japanese. (Wednesday, 7 times)
3. In addition to these two main parts, exercises will be held on specialized business vocabulary and some readings on Japanese culture in the business world, using Nikkei-shinbun's articles. (20 minutes at the beginning of each lesson)
15th lesson: review and an exam simulation.
There will be also exercise lessons:
a. Exercise lessons by Mrs. Etsuko Nakayama (30 hrs). The lessons will concentrate on the production of written texts in Japanese, analysing and developing specific skills in writing various textual typologies. Aside this main goal Mrs. Nakayama will offer the students the possibility to practice translation from Italian to Japanese.
b. Exercise lessons by Mrs. Suzuki Masako (30+30 hrs). The lessons will concentrate on the study of the correct use of Japanese linguistic registers (e.g. keigo, taigu hyogen, etc.) and students will practice within the frame of various social situations (including the so-called "business Japanese").
c. Exercise lessons of short group conversations (Suzuki or Nakayama, 30 hrs).

Japanese and Italian Language.
The course of the prof. Kwai takes place twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting on 10 September and ending at the beginning of November. The final grade is calculated based on a written exam.
The exercise lessons of the prof. Nakayama Etsuko and Suzuki Masako will be held in the semester from September to December.
