The course aims at developing competencies about the design and management of statistical surveys and about data analysis and interpretation. Accordingly, it aims at providing students with theoretical and methodological skills on the analysis of population opinions, aptitudes, behaviours and needs, that are today crucial for decision-making processes in public sector organizations.

The course also runs seminar series in the field of international migration and the integration of migrants.
At the end of the course, students will be able to comprehend mechanisms for the design, management, analysis and interpretation of statistical surveys.
No prior knowledge is necessary for this class
- The research process: identification of research questions, research steps, measurement;
- Statistical surveys: sampling, methods, questionnaire design;
- Data coding and analysis;
- Interpretation of results and reporting;
- International migration and the integration of migrants: case studies.

Written exam with open-ended and closed-ended questions. For attending students, the exam is based on lessons and seminar series’ contents. For the others, the exam is based on referral texts.
