The course is scheduled among the fundamental art-historical disciplines in the Master’s Degree Programme in History of Arts and Conservation of Artistic Heritage, curriculum in Medieval and Byzantine Art.
Study of medieval Iconographic themes in their social context, both religious and secular.
Better if students have a basic knowledge on Medieval Art History.
Iconographic Concepts, Categories of Images, Public and Private Programs, Romanesque and Gothic Iconographical Contexts, Religious and Secular Iconography, Monographic studies on Church Façades, Mosaic pavements, Mural Paintings, Genre Iconography. Particular attention will be dedicated to the Study of Bayeux Embroidery.
