The course aims to deepen the knowledge related to literature and other models of expression in the contemporary Arab world. In this sense, it constitutes one of the key courses in the LICAAM master's degree program.
The course aims at developing the students’ language skills as well as their knowledge of the Arabic literary heritage through the analysis of important innovative trends witnessed since the 1970s.
Knowledge of Arabic language and literature acquired in the Bachelor’s course.
The course will offer an overview of distinctive features of postmodern Arabic literature, mostly focusing on fiction and on intertextuality. It will consider significant works, thereof providing a comprehensive analysis, followed by the examination of selected passages, aimed at identifying the main stylistic-linguistic characteristics of the texts. Concomitantly, it will briefly deal with a number of translation related issues.
