The course offers an introduction and a first knowledge of some of the classic texts and debates among mostly European historians between the 19th and the 20th century
The expected results are based especially on the familiarization by the students of some of the major theoretical, methodological and historiographical contribution of European, Anglo-American (and some extra European) historiography from the XIX and the XX centuries
There are no specific prerequirements to attend the course and take the final test
The course will examine, both through lectures and through common discussions of precirculated texts, some of the major theoretical, methodological and historiographical contribution of European, Anglo-American (and some extra European) historiography from the XIX and the XX centuries

For students attending the course (frequentanti) there will be a final paper (10 pp max with footnotes) and the discussion of the volumes of the general bibliography (parte generale)
For students not attending the course (non frequentanti) there will be an individual discussion (colloquio) on the bibliography for non-attending students.
