The aim of the second module is to analyse the public and private role in the sector of the arts, culture and creative industries through concepts and fundamental tools of microeconomics. In particular, the module will explore the motivations and the modalities of public and private intervention, their effects, and the financing of artistic and cultural organisations and activities.
Knowledge and understanding:
- Understand the articulation of the sector of the arts, culture and creative industries from a microeconomic perspective
- Understand the reasons of the failure of the market for the arts and culture and possible interventions by the State
- Understand some aspects of the economic role of the private sector in arts, culture and creative industries

Ability of application:
- Ability to apply some learned concepts of microeconomics to the arts, culture and creative industries
- Ability to distinguish some idioisincrasie of artistic and cultural markets;
- Ability to seize current challenges and opportunities in the fields of art, culture and creative industries

Written exam (duration of 1 hour and 30 ') comprising 3-4 questions on theory and critical applications to cases of the arts, culture and creative industries on the basis of the contents analyzed and discussed in class and accessible on moodle.
At the end of the course a short exam simulation will be presented.
