The course, after having first introduced to the competitive environment within which firms operate, particularly regarding to the management of industrial relations, will focus in-depth examination, with an even practical orientation, the relevant legal institutions, even as interpreted by the courts and implemented by collective bargaining, the main source regarding the relations between the company and workers. The course will also be characterized by a pragmatic and casuistic approach, useful to students referred to a dynamic labor market and non-traditional, such as that now became established in our country
By actively attending the lectures and by taking in the class activities, as well as by the individual study, the students will earn:
1. Knowledge and comprehension;
1.1. Labor law institutions;
2. Ability to combine knowledge and comprehension;
2.1 Ability to orient themselves in the current labor market, either as an employee or as an employer;
3. Ability to evaluate own rights and duties as an employee; ability to benefit from the opportunities in labor management and awareness of the limits set by the legal framework.
It is recommended to have passed the private law exam
A. Introduction to the subject and methodological explanations.
B. The subject of industrial relations. historical and comparative Background. Representation and trade union representativeness. The levels of representation. - Company - Local - National - Community - Transnational. Of the representative bodies. - The representation of functions. Information and consultation.
C. Collective bargaining: History and comparative. The structure of collective bargaining and its levels. The actors of collective bargaining: the representativeness of the filter. The collective and its legal contract.
The dynamics of collective bargaining. The techniques of collective bargaining. The collective bargaining matters.
D. Collective bargaining in the public sector privatized. The structure of collective bargaining and its levels. The actors of collective bargaining: the selection of subjects policyholders of the law.
E. The forms of conflict and their legal definition. The conflict prevention techniques. Controversy, conflict, direct action. The strike in the private sector and in public services

Lessons
Learning will be verified with an oral examination on principal matter and also of real case study proposed to student (70%), as well as on the discussion on an individual or group research project (30%).
Teaching is organized in: a) lectures accompanied by educational material available on the e-learning platform of moodle.unive.it; b) thematic studies analyzed, discussed and presented by small groups in the classroom (for attending students); c) individual thematic examinations on topics chosen by the student himself presented during the oral examination (for those not attending).
