The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts of the economics and management of the firms. The main topics of the course deal with the internal functioning of the firms and their interaction with the external environment. After an overview of the organisational structure and governance of the firms, the course focuses on their strategic management. A special emphasis is placed on providing students with basic knowledge of i) the analysis of the competitive environment ii) the creation and management of the competitive advantage ii) the sustainability management as a source of competitive advantage.
Attendance and active participation in the training activities proposed by the course and individual study will enable students to:

- understand and analyze a wide range of firms’ strategies and managerial decisions;
- understand the main tools of competitive analysis;
- gain knowledge about sustainability management as a source of firms’ competitive advantage.
