The course belongs to the characterizing teaching activities of the Master's Degree Programmes in Philosophical sciences, placing itself within the teachings of the historical-philosophical area. The educational objective of the course is to provide knowledge related to the history of modern and contemporary philosophy (with particular attention to the season of German Idealism and to contemporary philosophy, as developed after the conclusion of the Hegelian system). At the end of the course the student's understanding and knowledge is expected to analyze and interpret complex philosophical texts, to be able to take a critically conscious attitude, to write a paper in an appropriate philosophical language, to discuss interacting with other students, around authors, ideas and philosophical problems.
At the end of the course the students:
1) should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the themes of modern and contemporary philosophy;
2) should have the ability to read and analize in argumentative and critical way complex philosophical texts;
3) could communicate, write and discuss ideas and philosophical problems.

Examination consists of a written paper about Adorno's "Negative Dialectics".
The students should demonstrate with this paper:
1) knowledge and understanding of the Adorno's text;
2) the ability to make use of the available secondary literature;
3) the capacity to explain and communicate and in clear and argumentative philosophical language the given theme.
Seminar: written papers, general discussion on texts and written papers.
