And laboratory exercises are the implementation of the theoretical concepts imparted in the two modules 1 and 2 of the general chemistry course.
They are the same as for the theoretical course, that is
A) Know the main laws and the main concepts of general chemistry concerning nomenclature, the balancing of reactions and the stoichiometric calculation.
B) Know the main features of the process of acquisition and processing of experimental data.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
A) Knowing how to use the laws and concepts learned to solve theoretical and practical problems in a logical and deductive way.
B) Know how to create a collection of experimental data (alone and in groups) and a consequent elaboration that results
consisting in the final results, to be made explicit by writing a scientific report.
3. Ability to judge
i) Being able to evaluate the logical consistency of the results to which the application of the learned physical laws is carried out, both in the field
theoretical both in the case of experimental data.
ii) Knowing how to recognize errors through a critical analysis of the applied method.
4. Communication skills
i) Knowing how to communicate the knowledge learned and the result of their application using appropriate terminology,
both in oral and written.
ii) Knowing how to interact with the teacher and with the classmates in a respectful and constructive way, especially during the works
experiments carried out in groups.
5. Learning skills
i) Knowing how to take notes, selecting and collecting information according to their importance and priority.
ii) Being able to be sufficiently autonomous in the collection of experimental data.
Having attended the theoretical part of the course
The laboratory consists of a first part of preparing salts from simple reactions by evaluating the stoichiometries and the concentrations of the reagents and the yields obtainedThen there are targeted experiences on the following topics-ossidoriduzioni; equilibrium in solution; acid-base titration; buffers; scarsely soluble salts; electrochemistry. The laboratory is obligatory for the presence at 80% of the days
Lesson notes with the description of the experiences
the exam is unique for the two theoretical modules and for the laboratory. they are written and oral tests and the evaluation of a report on laboratory experiences is foreseen
The laboratory proposes experiences of synthesis and characterization closely linked to the contents delivered frontally. Educational material concerning lectures and laboratory is available and downloadable. In the end the student must produce a paper with a description of the experiences and results
Accessibility, Disability and Inclusion

Accommodation and support services for students with disabilities and students with specific learning impairments:
Ca’ Foscari abides by Italian Law (Law 17/1999; Law 170/2010) regarding supportservices and accommodation available to students with disabilities. This includes students with mobility, visual, hearing and other disabilities (Law 17/1999), and specific learning impairments (Law 170/2010). In the case of disability or impairment that requires accommodations (i.e., alternate testing, readers, note takers or interpreters) please contact the Disability and Accessibility Offices in Student Services: disabilita@unive.it.
