This module identifies key themes and trends in the Southern Shore of the Mediterranean focusing in particular on question of violence and nonviolence, civil society associationism and mobilization, and the changing relationship between family, civil society and state in various historical and geographical contexts. This module stands therefore at the crossroads between cultural, social and political perspectives, starting from questions of individual and collective identity(ies) and their impact on political processes.

Ce cycle de cours proposera, dans un premier temps, quelques entrées pour comprendre les dynamiques de différents « cycles historiques » (1918-1948, 1948-1979 & 1979-2011) Moyen-Orient. Nous tenterons, dans un deuxième temps, d’analyser les configurations révolutionnaires qui eurent lieu en 2011 avant de nous intéresser à l’état de violence généralisée qu’on observe dans plusieurs pays de la région.
