Teaching is fundamental in the degree course for those wishing to address themselves to the in-depth study of the history of contemporary art.
It is the second module of the teaching HISTORY OF CONTEMPORARY ART (12 cfu), that follow by the 1st module HISTORY OF CONTEMPORARY ART 1.
It allows us to recognize works of art of the eighteen and nineteenth century by framing them in their historical context, know the most important artistic movements of the period and the related critical literature.
- knowledge and understanding: knowledge of terminology; knowledge of main artists' poetic and works of art, groups and movements in the field of visual arts on the program;
- ability to apply knowledge and understanding: knowledge of how to use a specific terminology and ability to recognize main artists and works of art based on lessons and texts given by the teacher; understanding the artist's poetic;
- ability to understand: capability in analyzing a work of art or the poetry of an artist or a group / movement among the studied ones, referring them to a correct temporal and cultural collocation; to be able to argue with property of language and correct formal analysis;
- communication skills: knowing how to use an appropriate and specific terminology, introduced and explained at lesson or on recommended texts and books; apply a good Italian (or English) syntax and grammar; being able to behave in a respectful and profitable way with professors and peers;
General knowledge of European and American history of arts in XIX century; preliminary knowledge of European situation of arts in XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries.

The artworks, which will be analized during the written exam, will be chosen from the selection of images in ppt uploaded on the Moodle platform. The student will be asked to recognize and comment six of these artworks which will be projected on the examination day. 
It will be asked technical data (author, title, year, technique), analysis and contextualisation of the work and its author linked with the art movement and the historical period.
Introduction and elucidation about most important movements and works of art, by slides show and documents.
