A first approximation to the following concepts:

- The origins of the anthropological concept of culture.
• Culture and its "nature". Do the boundaries of a culture exist?
• Dynamism of culture and creativity.
• Unity and variety of mankind.
• Overcoming the scientific breed category.
• The concept of race and its use on the political scene and in social contexts.
• Ontogenesis and phylogeny.
• Genetic populations and linguistic families.
- Definitions of racism (racist differentiation, how to recognize neo-racism).
• Ethnicity and ethnicity.
- Ethnocentrism and cultural relativism.
- The meanings of the term "ethnicity".
• Sex, gender and social relationships.
- religion and secularism
The globalization.
During the course the general aspects of the discipline are introduced: the historical genesis of anthropological thought, the methods of empirical and theoretical research. Examples of the application of anthropology to the critical analysis of the contemporary and in particular of the school will be studied in depth.
N.B. The exam is worth 6 CFU for the purpose of recognizing the valid credits for the attainment of the 24 credits necessary for access to future initial training courses, internships and insertion in the teaching function for secondary school teachers (FIT).
Ability to understand the texts read and to articulate a synthesis of the concepts acquired.
