This course takes the form of a laboratory, with programming activities, individual contributions, collective discussions and exercises that culminate in a project completed by one or two students on a chosen discipline of the Digital Humanities which concludes the path of the previous two years. The project, developed under the guidance of the course teacher, should be aimed at creating practical "DH methodologies and technology" applications/resources in one of the Humanities disciplines:

Archaeology
Art History
Classics
History
Linguistics
Literary Studies
Music
Media Studies
Philosophy
Religious Studies


where DH methodologies include:

digitization (encoding and cleansing)
digital text analysis
data modeling
data visualization
Geo-referencing
AI and knowledge generation


The project should pay attention to the work flows and tools used in the given discipline and make use of two or more DH methodologies.

Students will be assessed 20% on class assignments, 40% on final project and 40% on final oral exam.


The class focuses on discovering research work flows, digital information/knowledge structures and digital tools used in humanities disciplines. The class sessions with be run using group discussion, presentation and tool demonstration by professor and students.

Assignments and reading list will be posted or emailed directly to students.
The student will be able to create practical "DH methodologies and technology" applications/resources in one of the Humanities disciplines.
The student will be able to define the following DH methodologies:
digitization (encoding and cleansing)
digital text analysis
data modeling
data visualization
Geo-referencing
AI and knowledge generation
The student will be able to create a digital project plan.
The student should have successfully completed DHLab mod A before taking this class.
