Associate Professor of Environmental Chemistry at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, within the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics, and Statistics (DAIS), and Rector's Delegate for Sustainability. PhD in Environmental Sciences from Ca' Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE) in 2007 (partially at Wageningen University, NL, thanks to a Marie Curie grant). Master's degree in Environmental Sciences from Ca' Foscari in 2002.

Research focus: Chemical safety and sustainability along the life cycle of innovative products and processes in various industrial sectors through the implementation of the European Commission's SSbD (Safe and Sustainable by Design) framework, developing methodologies for assessing the hazard of chemicals and materials, human health and environmental risk analysis, and environmental sustainability assessment and its integration with social and economic dimensions.

Robust research expertise in Environmental Risk Assessment for contaminated sites (both aquatic and terrestrial systems), in the development of integrated risk indices following Weight of Evidence (WoE) approaches based on Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) Methods, and in the conceptual design of Decision Support Systems (DSS). Proven experience in the development and application of bioaccumulation models, in the assessment of contaminant bioavailability, and in the concept of Species Sensitivity Distribution (SSD).

Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary research groups and involvement in the preparation and development of national and international research projects. Currently, she is the scientific leader for UNIVE of the HEU BioSusTex project "Towards absolute safe and sustainable biobased textile," the CBE JU SurfToGreen project "Bio-based sustainable SURFactants TO foster GREEN industry," and the EIC Pathfinder Open project GREENDIGO "Biosolutions for denim dyeing within the Planetary Boundaries". Member of SETAC Europe since 2004. Member of the Advisory Board of the scientific journal Environmental Sciences Europe since 2011 and member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management (IEAM) from 2015 to 2023. Since 2015, she is also a founding member and member of the Technical and Scientific Committee of GreenDecision s.r.l., a company born as a spin-off of Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

Since 2023, she has been the director of the DAIS Department of Excellence Project (funded by the Ministry of University and Research, MUR) and Coordinator of the Technical Table for the Student Community of RUS (Network of Universities for Sustainable Development). As of April 2025, she is Vice President of the UN Global Compact Network Italia Foundation.

National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale, ASN) for the Academic Discipline (Settore Concorsuale, SC) 03/A1 for Full Professor (prima fascia) obtained in February 2025.
