Curriculum vitae

Luciano Pezzolo si è laureato in Storia presso l’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia e ha conseguito il dottorato in Storia economica (Milano – Bocconi). Ricercatore in Storia economica nella Facoltà di Economia di Ca’ Foscari (1993-2006) è professore ordinario di Storia moderna nel Dipartimento di Studi umanistici. E’ stato Visiting Scholar presso l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales di Parigi e il Department of Economics della University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA); è stato Fernand Braudel Fellow presso l'European University Institute di Firenze. E' membro dei comitati di redazione di Acta Histriae, Archivio Veneto, Studi Queriniani e Studi Veneziani.

    I principali settori d’interesse riguardano le istituzioni militari e le strutture finanziarie nell’Europa medievale e moderna; la storia economica e sociale della Repubblica di Venezia; le relazioni tra istituzioni (formali e informali) e dinamiche economiche in età preindustriale. Attualmente sta completando – tra l’altro – una monografia intitolata Mars and Pluto. War and Finance in Italy, 1350-1700, sotto contratto per Oxford University Press; e sta elaborando un libro su un caso di un alchimista a Venezia e un testo sull'economia dello stato veneziano tra XIV e XVIII secolo.

 

Luciano Pezzolo graduated in History from Ca' Foscari University in Venice and obtained his doctorate in Economic History (Milan - Bocconi). Researcher in Economic History at the Faculty of Economics of Ca' Foscari (1993-2006), he is full professor of Modern History at the Department of Humanities. He has been Visiting Scholar at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and the Department of Economics of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA); he was Fernand Braudel Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. He is a member of the editorial board of Acta Histriae.

His main fields of interest are military institutions and financial structures in medieval and early modern Europe; the economic and social history of the Republic of Venice; relations between institutions (formal and informal) and economic dynamics in pre-industrial times. He is currently completing - among other things - a monograph entitled Mars and Pluto. War and Finance in Italy, 1350-1700, under contract to Oxford University Press; and is working on a book on the economy of the Venetian state between the 14th and 18th centuries.
