In respect of the city's mourning called by Comune di Venezia, the San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest initially scheduled for October 6th is postponed to October 13th.

University bands are back on stage in San Basilio: on October 13th, 2023, join us for the "San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest" organized by Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the North Adriatic Sea port system (AdSPMAS) - Ports of Venice and Chioggia, during PORT DAYS 2023.

Two bands will walk the stage - Befire and Nesho - which were selected by the Radio Ca’ Foscari Team.

The San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest was originally established in 2021 as a Pop Up. It is an evening dedicated to music, and designed to kick off the academic year in the best way possible, providing a platform for the creativity and talent of students. Admission to the festival is free, and concerts take place between buildings n. 5 and 6 in San Basilio, which is one of the hubs of university life.

To highlight its special location, the San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest places strong emphasis on the theme of the sea: artists who take the stage will be asked to perform a live cover of Otis Redding's '(Sittin' On) The Dock of The Bay.' The best interpretation will be voted, and later streamed on Radio Ca’ Foscari.

In addition to the live performances, there will be two DJ sets by Radio Ca’ Foscari and Hard Rock Cafe Venice.

For those who cannot be with us in San Basilio, the entire evening will be broadcast live on unive.it/radiocafoscari.

  • 7.00p.m. - DJ set by Radio Ca’ Foscari
  • 8.00p.m. - Official welcome remarks

Performers

Befire
Befire is a pop-rock band from Venice, composed of four young members: Caterina (vocals), Ale Mesa (guitar), Sabba (bass), and Oliver (drums). Formed in the summer of 2021, the band immediately picked a recognisable sound and a striking stage.

The band plays covers and original songs and has recently finished recording three tracks, soon to be available on streaming platforms. Their musical influences span a wide range, from punk to rock to indie, covering the entire spectrum of rock music. After a couple of mini-tours and their participation in the 2022 Ciani Live Aid and the 2023 fairs of Parco Piraghetto, Sant'Antonio, and Zelarino, the band is about to kick off the autumn concert season, which will take place in various locations in the Veneto region. They will also be presenting their upcoming singles.

Nesho
Nesho started in the spring of 2021 and currently consists of Riccardo Brunello (vocals, rhythm guitar), Alessandro Ardizzon (electric guitar), Stefano Donà (bass), Marco Fiorese (keyboards), and Marco Ortolan (drums). Nesho members come from diverse listening and practical experiences, and their genre is a fusion of pop music, neo-soul, funk, indie-alternative with hints of pop-rock.

Nesho reaches out to the audience with lightness, their music is catchy but never predictable. A great deal of attention goes into their arrangements, that speak for the enjoyment of the entire group and their strong bond, as well as their curiosity to experiment with new and complex challenges. Their lyrics are highly introspective, often autobiographical.
