At 10.30pm, the Venetian Art Night shines with “PSYCHOSIS”, the video-installation especially designed by the Russian collective AES+F for Art Night and inspired from Sarah Kane’s last play, ‘4.48 psychosis’ (1999).
AES+F’s works combine photos, videos and animation with more traditional media such as painting, drawing, and sculpture, creating monumental video-installations. Through their visionary hyperrealism they are able to design visual stories that explore our contemporary society’s values, vices and conflicts in a global scale with explicit references to art history.
AES+F
Famous for their participations to the last Venetian Biennali, their monumental and colorful video-installations, full of characters and allegories in preparation for upcoming disasters, the Russian collective has been active since 1987 and participated to hundreds of exhibits around the world since 1989. It was initially formed by conceptual architects Tatiana Arzamasova (1955) and Lev Evzovich (1958) and by multidisciplinary designer Evgeny Svyatsky (1957). The group grew larger and changed its name to AES+F, acronym of the four artists and of photographer Vladimir Fridkes (1956) who joined in 1995. AES+F was part of the Russian Pavilion in the 52nd Venice Biennale with the provocatory "Last Riot ", first of three multichannel large scale video-installations which defined the AES+F aesthetics. " The Feast of Trimalchio ", the second piece of the series, was presented in Venice in 2009 and the last, "Allegoria Sacra", debuted at the 4th Mosca Biennale in 2011. In 2015 AES+F presented their new project, "Inverso Mundus ", within the 56th Venice Biennale. They participated to other events and biennali, in Adeilade, Havana, Helsinki, Istanbul, Kiev, Lille, Lyon, Melbourne, Sydney and Toronto. The works of AES+F have been exhibited in monographic exhibitions in such prestigious venues as the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (Berlin), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Kiasma museum (Helsinki), Tate (London), Museo Thyssen Bornemisza (Madrid), the Russian Museum (Saint Petersburg) and many more. The group was awarded with the Sergey Kuryokhin Price (2011) and the first Kandinsky price (2012).

Open exhibitions
“Hybris and monsters in contemporary art” curated by Silvia Burini, Giuseppe Barbieri, Anna Frants, Elena Gubanova
The project in the Ca' Foscari library exhibition hall, organized by MediaArtLab CYLAND, includes works by 19 artists from Italy, Russia, Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and the United States. The project examines one of the fundamental mechanisms of society - the connection of what cannot be connected, the problems in the relationships between “one's own" and that of "others", blurring the limits of well-defined concepts. In the exhibition, new technologies and old media create a space where the specific territory of the works is not set, enabling them to combine and influence each other, creating new "hybrid fruits" of the perception of art. Structured cyberspaces, post-Soviet reflections, geometrical and classical hybrids, art and life - all this diversity of works presented by artists suggests how releveant this topic was 5,000 years ago and how it still is today.
CYLAND is a non-profit organization aiming at developing the dialogue between art and technology through a yearly international festival, exhibitions, art and educational programmes. www.cyland.org

“VALERY KOSHLYAKOV-We have never stopped building utopia” curated by Danilo Eccher, with the support of the Russian Impressionism Museum (Moscow) and scientific direction by Silvia Burini and Giuseppe Barbieri.
Koshlyakov, who lives between Paris and Moscow, has been exhibited in many prestigious venues: in Italy at the MACRO, in France at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and, naturally, in most of the major public Russian museums such as the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow or the State Russian Museum in St Petersburg. He has also exhibited his works in the Louvre in Paris, the Guggenheim Museums in New York and Bilbao, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.
The Venice show features works which allude to the Italian city and its famous Palazzi, but the architecture of palaces and their interiors, whether Muscovite or Venetian, will be the exhibition’s backbone. Koshlyakov’s large paintings resemble, rather, stage scenery, as if we were in the audience at a play entitled The Seven Sisters of Moscow, in which the starring roles were played by Moscow’s famous Stalin-era skyscrapers, exemplars of socialist classicism. In a sense, we can talk about "gigantism" in Koshlyakov’s work: a paradoxical gigantism which employs a variety of recycled media, including cardboard, packing tape, plastic, and metal. His magnificent "panoramas" hence generate an impressive space that captivates the eyes and imaginations of viewers.
