Last month, Ca’ Foscari Rector Michele Bugliesi visited Armenia to take part in the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Yerevan State University, an event that brought together rectors and professors from several universities all over the world, such as Brazil, Canada, United States, Russia, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Cyprus, Norway, Georgia, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Mexico and South Korea.

Ca’ Foscari, with its long tradition in Armenian Studies, has always maintained excellent relations with the Yerevan State University. These relations have further solidified thanks to the success of the Erasmus+ program, now in its 4th edition, which involved 40 studenti, 11 professors and 3 members of the staff.
During the visit, Rector Bugliesi and Ca’ Foscari professor Sona Haroutyunian had the pleasure of meeting with YSU Rector Gegham Gevorgyan.

During the meeting they discussed the long standing connections between Armenians and Venetians, the good relationship between the two universities and future projects. In particular, they have manifested their interest towards the creation of a joint degree program in Regional and Migration Studies.

Rector Bugliesi concluded his mission in Armenia with a visit to the Geghard Monastery, dating back to the 4th century and the ancient Garni Temple, built in the 1st century, both important Unesco World Heritage Sites.
