Strategic partnerships for research & innovation

Ca' Foscari University of Venice will work with MARE research and technological innovation center for collaborative activities based on the encounter between artificial intelligence (AI) and digital health. This partnership will materialize in the creation of the eHealth Technopark at Venice Lido, aiming to revolutionize medical research and treatment through cutting-edge artificial intelligence applications.

The collaboration is addressed to students and staff of both universities for education, research, staff continuing education and for the realization of activites focused on sustainability in Milan and Venice. Both universities will provide equipment and technical expertise for the implementtaion of the activities.

The National Research Council (CNR) is the largest public research institution in Italy, the only one under the Research Ministry performing multidisciplinary activities. Since 2019, Ca' Foscari collaborates with the CNR to develop of extensive activities involving research and support services, technology development, innovation, teaching and training. The objectives of the framework agreement also include internationalisation of research and training activities, mobility of researchers, provision of equipment and instruments, staff and financial resources for the implementation of research activities of common interest and the activation of PhD programmes.

The Maritime research centre on portcities and blue economies ("CEntro di Studi su MAre, città-Porto e blue economie - CESMAP") performs training and research on maritime port-logistics activities, on environmental, socio-economic and cultural impacts. Current and strategic topics for the city of Venice intertwine with Economics, Management, Law, International Relationships, Environmental Impact and city-port relationships. Within the framework of the agreement, AdSPMAS activated also a course focused on the specificities of the Italian industrial system, with an in-depth study on the functioning and impact of port activities.

The "CMCC@cafoscari" centre on climate change results from the partnership between Ca' Foscari and the CMCC Climate - Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change. This partnership enables CMCC staff and researchers from the Environmental Sciences, IT and Statistics, Economics Departments to conduct joint research on future climate changes and possible adaptation actions to face resulting challenges. Among the research so far implemented there are the PhD Programme and the Master Programme in Science and Management of Climate Change.

Ca' Foscari University of Venice and ISMEO collaborate in archeological scientific research and missions, in particular in the Italian Archaeological Mission to Pakistan (MAIP). Main activities involve conservation of archaeological findings, large research of strategic interests for both institutions, cultural cooperation projects, dissemination and disclosure. Within the scope of the collaboration, also the publication of sizeable corpora, including archival funds, related to the cross-chronological culture and history of Asia and Africa.

The collaboration on the Pakistan archaeological mission continues in the fremework of Ca' Foscari's Department of Asian and North African Studies.

Ca' Foscari and INFN promoted research, teaching and technology transfer activities in the field of science and technology for cultural heritage.

The University was also part of the INFN-CHNet network (second-level hub), the Cultural Heritage Network providing analysis, research, training and publishing in partnership with research institute in Italy.

ESA_LAB@Ca'Foscari is an open platform for the implementation of strategic initiatives in the field of scientific research, international cooperation and promotion of impact research in the areas of common interest in space scientific research, more specifically on sustainability and risk management. This initiative was born under the ESA_LAB@ network, a hub designed to promote innovation between ESA and the academic and research world.

Ca' Foscari together with the Municipality of Venice and Iuav University of Venice collaborated to the implementation of the Research Centre for the protection and restoration of Venice cultural heritage. The agreement was part of a wider programme of interventions ratified by the Presidency of the Council of Ministries and the Municipality of Venice titled "Agreement for the Development of the City of Venice (Patto per lo Sviluppo della Città di Venezia): Interventions for economic development, group and territorial cohesiveness of the City of Venice".

The Centre for Cultural Heritage Technology - CCHT@Ca’Foscari of the Italian Institute of Technology was developed in partnership with the Department of Environmental Sciences,Informatics and Statistics and the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nano Systems. It promoted  new technologies for the analysis and protection of cultural heritage. The scientific project featured three research lines: Digitization and Retrieval, Protection and Machine Learning, integrating different subjects and skills going from computation analysis o materials sciences.
