Ca’ Foscari joins the appeal for the release of former student Alberto Trentini

Since 15 November 2024, Venetian-born Alberto Trentini has been held in a Caracas prison without any formal charges and has been prevented from contacting his family or legal representatives for a prolonged period. Ca’ Foscari University of Venice joins the family’s appeal with urgency and conviction, calling on the Italian government to take every possible action to secure his immediate release.

After graduating with top honours in Contemporary History from Ca’ Foscari in 2004, Alberto dedicated his life with passion and commitment to international cooperation, working in many countries around the world. At the time of his arrest, he was in Venezuela on assignment for the NGO Humanity & Inclusion, which supports people facing marginalisation and disability. Alberto Trentini’s life stands as a shining example of genuine dedication to international solidarity and human rights, values that the entire Ca’ Foscari community, starting with the professors who knew and admired him, proudly upholds.

We therefore join the family’s appeal with all our strength and determination, urging the Italian government to act swiftly and decisively to bring Alberto Trentini home without delay.
