Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (180 ECTS credits) in Economics or a related field and have a solid background in quantitative methods. Candidates who have not yet obtained their first-cycle degree may also apply, provided they complete it by September 1 of the academic year of enrolment.
Applicants must also demonstrate adequate knowledge of English, as specified on the webpage dedicated to the joint programme.
Further details on admission requirements are available in the application section of the webpage dedicated to the joint programme: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master QEM - Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics.
In addition to the general admission requirements, students interested in applying with Ca’ Foscari as their Entrance University must ensure they meet the specific requirements for admission (personal academic preparation and minimum curricular requirements) to the Master's degree programme on which the joint programme is based: Master’s degree programme in Economics, Finance and Sustainability – Economics – QEM.
Students interested in the programme must submit their application online by following the procedure outlined in the How to apply section and by respecting the deadlines listed in the When to apply section of the official website of the joint programme (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master QEM - Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics), uploading all required documents.
Applications are typically submitted during the academic year preceding enrolment in the Master's degree programme. The application period generally opens in the autumn and closes around June.
Students enrolled in the standard Master's degree programme in Economics, Finance and Sustainability – Economics – QEM curriculum may apply for admission to the joint programme after completing their first semester. Admission requires passing the first-semester exams (Microeconomics 1, Optimization, Probability and Statistics) with an average grade of 23/30.
Applications must be communicated by September 30 to the Educational programmes office of the Department of Economics (qem-venice@unive.it) or to the programme’s academic coordinator, Prof. Fabio Michelucci.
IMPORTANT: Students enrolled at Ca’ Foscari in the Economics – QEM curriculum of the Master’s Degree Programme in Economics, Finance and Sustainability are not automatically enrolled in the joint degree programme.
The EMJMD QEM at Ca' Foscari University is broken down into two years of studies: the first year where focus is on core courses, like in each partner university, with the objective of building a solid foundation in economics and quantitative methods; the second year of specialization with emphasis on two curricula, Quantitative Economics or Quantitative Finance.
Students holding a Bachelor’s degree obtained in Italy must follow the procedures outlined in the Admission and enrolment section of the webpage dedicated to the Master’s degree programme in Economics, Finance and Sustainability, and submit the required documents within the specified deadlines.
Students holding a first-cycle degree obtained abroad will receive instructions and information about deadlines from the Welcome Unit.
IMPORTANT: Non-EU citizens who are not legally residing in Italy (i.e. do not hold a valid residence permit for enrolment purposes) must apply for a visa for study purposes in order to be eligible for enrolment. Further information about the relevant procedures will be provided by the Welcome Unit at the end of the selection process.
All students participating in the programme must complete a mobility period at at least two partner universities.
The second year of enrolment, which students will spend entirely at one partner university, is dedicated to the chosen specialisation.
Each student’s mobility scheme is determined at the time of admission to the programme, based on the preferences indicated in the application, the availability of the partner Universities, and the need to ensure a balanced distribution of students across the Consortium in the second year.
The Consortium reserves the right to make changes to students’ mobility schemes during their enrolment.
Students participating in the programme must graduate by the summer session of the second year and comply with all academic requirements, which are detailed on the programme’s official website: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master QEM - Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics.
The objective of the second year in Venezia is to educate students in advanced methodologies and models in economics and finance, with the goals of both research orientation for further studies and practical applications.
Areas of specialization are in Quantitative Economics or Quantitative Finance. More precisely: Microeconomics, Game Theory, Finance, Insurance, Public Finance, International Economics, Industrial Economics, Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics, Mathematical Economics, Quantitative Finance, Econometrics and Financial Econometrics .
For the selection of the specialization courses students should interact with Prof. Fabio Michelucci ( fabio.michelucci@unive.it) that will help them to select the courses in line with their interests and further carriers objectives.
The structure of the studies is: Specialization courses (around 40 credits, including Foreign Language) and Master dissertation (around 20 credits)
Students will graduate at the university where they complete their academic path, following the procedures and regulations of the respective institution.
Students graduating at Ca’ Foscari must submit a formal graduation application, following the procedures and respecting the deadlines indicated on the relevant webpage: Thesis and final degree exam | Deadlines, admission and procedures.
At the end of the programme, students will receive a joint diploma issued by all member universities of the Consortium.
In addition to the joint diploma, each student will receive a Diploma Supplement, following the model developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO/CEPES, which provides a detailed description of the nature, level, context, and content of the educational path completed. The aim is to facilitate fair academic and professional recognition of the qualification.
