Interactive experiences, demo and poster papers

Poster papers

The AVI 2026 Poster Track is dedicated to showcasing work-in-progress that pushes the boundaries of Advanced Visual Interfaces and Human-Computer Interaction.
We especially welcome posters that explore creativity through a critical lens, addressing its complex dimensions of agency, interfaces, and ethics.
This track offers a valuable opportunity to obtain precious feedback from peers and experts in an engaging, informal setting. Submissions must describe original (though not yet fully completed) research.

Interactive experiences and demo papers

The interactive experiences and demo track is intended to provide a forum to showcase interactive installations, innovative implementations, systems, and technologies demonstrating new ideas about creativity, in relation to AVI themes and topics, and reaching out to novel communities.
Interactive Experiences are expected primarily from musicians, designers and artists.
Demo submissions should be more technical, typically originating from Computer Engineering or Computer Science fields.

Please notice that:

  • the committee reserves the right to reject proposals whose hardware and/or space requirements cannot be met by organizers (if you have any doubt please contact the Interactive Experiences and Demo Chairs before submitting). The organizers cannot provide any specific equipment (e.g., sound or lighting systems).
  • there is no possibility for any remuneration by the conference organizers.

Important dates

Interactive Experiences, Demo and Poster papers (all deadlines are 23:59, AoE):

  • submission deadline: March 9, 2026

Submission

All authors must complete a form, available in EasyChair, with a description of their proposal and, for the Interactive Experience/Demo, a detailed list of technical requirements. The authors are required also to include:

  1. The Interactive Experience/Demo/Poster paper; the paper must be in English, must not be anonymized, must use the ACM single-column submission template, must be up to 2 pages (*), + 1 additional page for references.
Note: page length refers to the two-column layout.
  2. Optional auxiliary materials and short videos that do not exceed 2 minutes. Note, however, that papers should be self-contained, in the sense that they can be read and understood without any auxiliary material.

(*) Please note that while the submission template is single-column, page limits are expressed in terms of double-column, the final format for the accepted submissions. A suggested strategy for LaTeX/Overleaf users is working in the double-column format and then switching to single-column for submitting the paper version for review. As an alternative, authors can work in the single-column format and estimate the two-column page count using the conversion table provided by ACM.

In general, read carefully the ACM guidelines (e.g., Section 5 for the conversion table).

Submission template and system

All the papers mentioned above (Poster, Interactive Experiences, Demo) must use the Easy Chair system for all submissions.
ACM single-column submission templates are available for both Word and LaTeX. It is recommended to use LaTeX.

For complete guidelines on ACM formatting, please consult the ACM website.

LaTeX template (recommended)

LaTeX is a document preparation system and markup language widely used for creating professional/quality documents.
If you choose to use LaTeX,

Submissions must be uploaded in PDF format via Easy Chair.

Word template

It is recommended to use LaTeX. Should you prefer Word, you can download and use the latest Submission Template from the ACM website.

Easy Chair

Papers must be submitted online in PDF format via Easy Chair.

Proceedings and ACM open-access publishing model

All accepted papers are included in the International Conference Proceedings Series (ICPS) published by ACM Press and available in the ACM Digital Library.

For each accepted paper, at least one author must register for AVI 2026 by the early registration deadline and present the paper at the conference.

Important note to authors about ACM’s new open access publishing model

ACM has introduced a new open access publishing model for the ICPS Series. Authors based at institutions that are not yet part of the ACM Open program and do not qualify for a full geographic waiver will be required to pay an article processing charge (APC) to publish their ICPS article in the ACM Digital Library. To determine whether or not an APC will be applicable to your article, please follow the detailed guidance.

Further information may be found on the ACM website, as follows:

Please direct all questions about the new model to icps-info@acm.org.
