Programme and study plan

Applicants may choose between:

  • semester-long mobility, to be carried out during the 1st semester of the 2nd year;
  • or a year-long mobility, to be carried out during the entire 2nd year of the Master’s degree programme.

The preferred option must be indicated at the time of application.

In the case of semester-long mobility, students are required to sit examinations for a total of at least 30 ECTS credits.

In the case of year-long mobility, students must complete the activities envisaged in the study plan and obtain the degree at the partner university.

In both cases, the activities to be carried out abroad must be agreed upon with the academic coordinators of the double degree programme at both universities.

For more information about the study plan, students can contact the programme’s academic coordinator, Prof. Francesca Antonini, or the staff of the Department’s Educational Programmes office: didattica.dslcc@unive.it

Mobility procedures

Before departing for the mobility, selected students will be required to:

  • complete the registration/application procedure at the receiving institution according to the methods and within the deadlines set by the Partner University;
  • sign the grant agreement that regulates the disbursement of the mobility grant;
  • fill out the Learning Agreement, listing all the educational activities to be carried out at the Partner University and identifying the equivalences with the courses included in the Ca' Foscari study plan, which must be approved by the academic coordinators of the programme at Ca' Foscari and at the Host University.

Further information will be provided by the Welcome Unit (International Office) upon completion of the selection process and after formal acceptance of the offer.

After reaching the destination, students will have to get the confirmation of arrival form signed by the Partner University, to certify the actual start date of the mobility period (orientation/welcome activities or educational activities).

If the students intend to make changes to the study plan agreed upon before departure, it is possible to complete a Learning Agreement variation form, which must be approved by the academic coordinators of the programme at Ca' Foscari and at the Host University.

Before returning from the mobility, students will have to get the confirmation of departure form signed by the Partner University, to certify the actual end date of the mobility period.

As soon as it is available, students must send the Transcript of Records issued by the Host University to the Welcome Unit (International Office). The Transcript of Records is the certificate listing all the educational activities they have completed during their mobility period abroad.

The activities reported in the Transcript of Records must correspond to those agreed upon in the Learning Agreement and in any subsequent amendments.

Tuition fees and mobility grant

Selected students are required to pay tuition fees to Ca' Foscari for the entire duration of the programme and will benefit from total exemption from the payment of tuition fees at the partner University. However, the payment of an administrative fee for registration at the partner university will be required.

For the mobility period, students will benefit from a mobility grant with a variable amount, as defined annually in the Calls for Applications.

Graduation

The University at which students will graduate depends on the mobility scheme chosen by the participants. Specifically:

  • Students undertaking semester-long mobility will graduate at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice;
  • Students undertaking year-long mobility will graduate at the University of Ljubljana.

The thesis will be prepared following the procedures of the university where students will graduate, with co-supervision by a faculty member from both universities.

Students who, choosing semester-long mobility, will graduate at Ca’ Foscari must submit a formal graduation application following the procedures and deadlines indicated on the relevant web page: Thesis and final degree exam > Deadlines, admission and procedures.

Once the Italian degree has been awarded, students must inform the Welcome Unit, which will send the necessary documentation to the partner university to initiate the process for the Slovenian degree.

Selected students opting for year-long mobility will obtain their degree at the University of Ljubljana, according to the procedures and deadlines established by the host university.

Once the Slovenian degree has been awarded, students must inform the Welcome Unit by sending copies of:

  • Master’s degree diploma or certificate of degree completion;
  • complete transcript of records;

issued by the partner university. At the same time, students must provide:

  • exact date of graduation;
  • title of the thesis;
  • name of the supervisor and, if applicable, co-supervisor(s).

The Welcome Unit will initiate the procedure for the recognition of credits earned abroad, including the final examination. Once recognition is complete, the Ca’ Foscari student record will be closed by the back office, without the need to submit a formal graduation application.

Both diplomas will be legally recognised in the issuing countries.

A bonus point will be added to the final exam grade for students who participated in a double or joint degree programme. More information is available at the following webpage: Characteristics and assessment of final exam.
