Projects

CSAR’s activities are carried out through continuous scientific research, as well as through the organization of culturally enriching events that are scientifically rigorous while remaining accessible to a broad public. These occasions provide opportunities to engage with leading figures of international cultural life – particularly from the Centre’s areas of focus – and to attend art film screenings, theatrical and musical performances, and presentations of digital projects.

Film Series

CSAR promotes and organizes film series dedicated to auteur cinema and art cinema, complementing screenings with in-depth discussions, meetings, and presentations. Activities also include initiatives related to contemporary video art and audiovisual experimentation, such as the Sleepless Video Art Night, a marathon event held during Art Night Venezia.
From its foundation until the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, CSAR partnered with the Centre for Film Festivals and International Programs, promoting the “Ruskino at Ca’ Foscari” festival and its student subtitling competition – initiatives that provided valuable training and cultural mediation experiences in the field of contemporary cinema.

Conferences, Seminars, and Presentations

CSAR promotes and organizes conferences and seminars developed in collaboration with universities and cultural and museum institutions from various countries. These initiatives involve scholars and academics from a wide international context and serve as key moments of scholarly exchange and interdisciplinary discussion. The Centre also participates in academic collaboration networks and shared research projects, until 2022 also within the framework of the Ca’ Foscari–SIAS International PhD in Art History. Alongside conferences, CSAR regularly promotes book launches, research presentations, public lectures, and study meetings, which form an integral part of its Third Mission activities.

Other Initiatives

CSAR has also promoted theatrical and musical events in collaboration with national and international cultural institutions.
During the pandemic, it developed online projects and digital activities involving students as part of internships and PCTO programs (School-to-Work Programme).
