Call for expression of interest: Full Professor in Economics

The Department of Economics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice invites expressions of interest for a Full Professorship in Economics (SECS-P/01), with a track record of high-quality publications in the area of evidence-based policy, including research making use of randomized control trials and field experiments, looking at welfare issues.

The position is permanent with starting date in Autumn 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. Knowledge of Italian is not required.

The position is linked to the 2023-2027 “Departments of Excellence” Program awarded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. This funding aims at expanding the research agenda of the Department of Economics, by studying policies and interventions that can improve people’s quality of life and contrast new forms of economic vulnerability. Specifically, the program will investigate interventions that can contrast inequality, poverty, and other forms of economic and social exclusion, arising as a result of - amongst others - demographic changes, market imperfections and limitations to market participations, financial crisis and impoverishment, climate deterioration, etc.

The appointee will take a leading role in the Program, which envisages the recruitment of other more junior positions. The position comes with a generous budget supporting the Program, including dedicated funding to conduct field experiments (about 500K Euro).

The starting yearly gross salary - net of employer-paid social security contributions - for Full Professor is approx. € 76,000.00 and can be increased based on seniority and qualified research results. Depending on individual circumstances (e.g., being non-Italian resident for the past two years), the successful candidate may qualify for generous tax exemption. For further information please visit the section "Tax Benefits" at the end of this page.
