- analyze intertemporal dynamic optimization choices;
- analyze the role of uncertainty, complete/incomplete markets, assumptions on individual preferences in determining consumption and saving choices, and asset values;
- compare the different ways used by macro-financial economists to give value to money and understand their consequences;
- analyze financial crises and the design macroeconomic policies.
Prerequisiti
Probability and Statistics, Optimization, Macroeconomics I, Microeconomics I
Part B builds on Part A. Furthermore, you are expected to be comfortable with basic undergraduate course in theory of finance and econometrics.
Contenuti
The second part of the course will focus on various extensions and further applications, including consumption-savings problems, job search, asset pricing, public finance and models with heterogeneous households and firms.

Finally, the course will also draw on various journal articles and working papers. I will post copies of these articles and all other course material to MOODLE.

Modalità di esame
Il/la docente ha il dovere di vigilare affinché siano rispettate le regole di autenticità e originalità delle prove d'esame. Di conseguenza, nei casi in cui vi sia il sospetto di un comportamento irregolare, l'esame può prevedere un ulteriore approfondimento, contestuale alla prova d'esame, che potrà essere realizzato anche in modalità differente rispetto alle modalità sopra riportate.
Graduazione dei voti

B. Grades within 23 and 26 will be assigned in case of:
- discrete knowledge of the main content of the program;
- discrete ability to solve exercises;
C. Grades within 27 and 30 will be assigned in case of:
- good or optimal knowledge of the main content of the program;
- good or optimal ability to solve exercises, elaborate and interpret its results, also providing a critical view on them
D. 30 cum laude is assigned when the student shows excellent abilities to handle the content of the program of the course, ability to solve exercises and proof of excellent critical thinking.
Metodi didattici
Teaching will be delivered through fifteen lectures for each of the two parts of the course.
The course is attended by both QEM students and first-year doctoral students. Lectures are shared by both groups. However, doctoral students may be required to independently study more advanced material on selected topics.
