Najmeh Karimian obtained her Bachelor degree in pure chemistry (1999) and master degree in analytical chemistry (2005) from Iran. Najmeh received her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran (2014). During her Ph.D. studies, as a visiting researcher, she joined the “Biosensors and Bioelectronics Centre” at Linkoping University in Sweden, where her work was focused on the development of electrochemical sensors based on molecularly imprinted polymers. In 2015, she was awarded with a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellowship by the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems at University Ca’ Foscari of Venice in Italy, where she developed her researches on the fabrication and evaluation of nanoelectrode ensembles (NEEs) as sensing platforms.
Najmeh’s scientific interests are related to:
- Surface modification using molecularly imprinting technology
- Development of electrochemical chemo/bio-sensors based on molecularly imprinted polymers for diagnostics of arts work, environmental, clinical and food analysis.
- Development and using of nanoelectrodes as sensing platforms for chemo/bio-analytical applications.
- Development of analytical/electroanalytical chemistry in the field of Cultural Heritage (CH), from the methods of characterization of materials to the procedures aiming at diagnosing the state of conservation of CH assets.
- Development of polymer based systems tailored for the conservation needs and related restoration treatments. In particular recent research goals are aimed to develop sensors for the analysis of proteins and saccharides in works of art.
