Katalin PRAJDA

Katalin Prajda ha conseguito l’abilitazione scientifica nazionale alle funzioni di professore di seconda fascia nei settori concorsuali 11/A1 (Storia medievale) e 13/C1 (Storia economica). Le sue ricerche vertono sulla storia delle migrazioni e degli scambi culturali tra l'XI e il XVI secolo, con un focus specifico sulla mobilità di italiani nell'Europa centro-orientale e sull'insediamento di gruppi etnico-linguistici provenienti da tale area in Italia.

Tra le sue pubblicazioni principali figurano Network and Migration in Early Renaissance Florence (2018) e Italy and Hungary in the Early Renaissance (2023), opere che hanno ridefinito i legami storici tra queste due macroaree. È attualmente in preparazione la sua terza monografia, incentrata sul dominio dell’Alto Adriatico nei secoli XIV e XV attraverso la storia delle migrazioni delle nazioni mercantili.

Accanto alla ricerca sulle migrazioni, mantiene un profilo scientifico attivo nel campo della cultura materiale e visiva e della storia dell’arte, con un interesse specifico per la circolazione di oggetti, idee e forme artistiche. La sua attività analizza inoltre la storia economica e sociale della produzione artistica, in particolare dell’oreficeria, con contributi apparsi in prestigiose riviste come il Metropolitan Museum Journal, il I Tatti Studies e l’Acta Historiae Artium. In ambito Digital Humanities, la sua attenzione è rivolta in particolare alla Social Network Analysis, con articoli pubblicati in Poetics e Historische Zeitschrift.

Il suo percorso accademico è internazionale: laureata in Storia (2003) presso l’Università di Miskolc, in Ungheria, con una specializzazione in scienze museali (la cui tesi ha ricevuto un premio nazionale nel settore della storia dell’arte), ha proseguito gli studi in Storia dell’arte presso l’Università Loránd Eötvös di Budapest (2002-2006). Ha conseguito un Master (2007) e il Dottorato di ricerca (2011) presso l’Istituto Universitario Europeo di Fiesole, ricevendo per la sua tesi il Premio Péter Sahin-Tóth presso la medesima Università Loránd Eötvös.

Ha insegnato Storia medievale italiana all’Università di Vienna e ha condotto ricerche finanziate da prestigiose istituzioni, tra cui Villa I Tatti (The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies), l’Accademia Ungherese delle Scienze, l’Institute for Advanced Study della Central European University e il New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study. Ha collaborato sin dai tempi del dottorato, infine, a progetti internazionali all’avanguardia di Digital Humanities presso le Università di Chicago e Vienna.

All'attività accademica affianca un costante impegno nella Terza Missione, attraverso lezioni di divulgazione storica, articoli divulgativi e l'organizzazione di mostre.
