- ELENA ROVA, nata a Venezia nel 1959, è laureata in Lettere (Padova 1983), possiede un diploma di perfezionamento in Archeologia Orientale (Roma 1986) e un Dottorato di Ricerca in Archeologia-Preistoria (Roma 1991). È stata borsista MAE in Turchia (1985), DAAD e Humboldt in Germania (Saarbrücken, 1987/88, Würzburg, 1991/1992), post-doc a Venezia (1996-98). È professore associato del settore L-OR/05 (Archeologia e Storia dell’Arte del Vicino Oriente antico) presso l’Università Ca’ Foscari, dove è stata ricercatrice dal 2001 al 2015. È membro del Dottorato in Scienze dell'Antichità e della Scuola di Specializzazione SISBA (Trieste, Udine, Venezia). Ha conseguito l’ASN a professore di prima fascia nel settore 10\N1 (2018).

- La sua ricerca è rivolta alle civiltà del Vicino Oriente, con particolare riguardo all'Alta Mesopotamia e aree limitrofe (Caucaso Meridionale, Anatolia) tra Calcolitico ed Età del Ferro. Tra le tematiche affrontate: la cronologia comparata delle prime civiltà urbane e le loro relazioni con i popoli delle regioni circostanti, i modi di vita dei gruppi delle regioni montane del Vicino Oriente, anche attraverso analisi multidisciplinari e tecniche di microarcheologia, lo studio della ceramica e della glittica e del relativo repertorio iconografico, sia con metodi tradizionali che con analisi matematico-statistiche. Dal 1984 ha partecipato a scavi e ricognizioni in Iraq (Karrana), Turchia (Arslantepe), Siria (Tell Leilan) e alle relative pubblicazioni. Dal 1997 al 2010 è stata vice-direttore del team di Ca' Foscari nello scavo di Tell Beydar (Siria). Dal 2009 dirige il Georgian-Italian Shida Kartli Archeological Project (scavi di Natsargora, Okherakhevi, Aradetis Orgora) e dal 2018 il Georgian-Italian Lagodekhi Archeological Project.

- È autrice di 6 monografie e ca. 120 articoli e recensioni su riviste scientifiche, atti di convegni e volumi miscellanei e ha curato, da sola o con altri, l'edizione di 6 volumi di studi. Ha organizzato seminari e convegni nazionali e internazionali ed è stata membro del comitato scientifico di tre convegni internazionali. Ha partecipato, su invito, a più di 50 convegni nazionali e internazionali e tenuto corsi e seminari presso università italiane e straniere. È general editor della serie "Araxes", membro del comitato editoriale delle collane "Antichistica" e "Studia Asiana" e della "Rivista di Archeologia", "peer reviewer" per la Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (Georgia) e il Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (Belgio), membro dell’albo revisori MIUR/ANVUR, referee per numerose riviste internazionali.

- Ha partecipato a progetti di ricerca nazionali (CNR, MURST 40%, PRIN, MAE); è stata Team Leader del progetto ARCANE (Europaean Science Foundation, 2006-2011), coordinatore locale di un progetto PRIN (2009), principal investigator di due progetti di Ateneo, assegnataria di fondi MAECI e di Ateneo per la Missione in Georgia (2010-), di grants del White-Levy Program for Archaeological Publications (2010-12) e della Humboldt Stiftung (2012).

- È stata membro del Collegio Didattico del C.d.L. in “Conservazione dei Beni Culturali” (2006/2008) e “Conservazione e Gestione dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali” (2008-2017), membro della Commissione Paritetica della Scuola in Conservazione e Produzione dei Beni Culturali (2014-2018) e della Commissione Paritetica del DFBC (2018-2020). È coordinatrice di scambi Erasmus (UCL London, Reading, Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne) ed Erasmus +ICM (Georgia).

 

- ELENA ROVA, born in Venice in 1959, has a degree in Humanities (Padua 1983), a postgraduate diploma in Oriental Archaeology (Rome 1986) and a PhD in Archaeology-Prehistory (Rome 1991). She was a MAE grant holder in Turkey (1985), DAAD and Humboldt in Germany (Saarbrücken, 1987/88, Würzburg, 1991/1992), post-doc in Venice (1996-98). She is Associate Professor in Near Eastern Archaeology and Art History (sector L-OR/05) at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where she was a researcher from 2001 to 2015. She is a member of the PhD Teaching Committee in Ancient Civilisation and of the School of Specialisation in Archaeological Heritage (SISBA; Trieste, Udine, Venice). She qualified as a full professor in sector 10\N1 (2018).

- Her research addresses civilizations of the Near East, with particular attention to Upper Mesopotamia and neighbouring areas (South Caucasus, Anatolia) between the Chalcolithic and the Iron Age. Among the topics addressed: the comparative chronology of the first urban civilisations and their relations with the peoples of the surrounding regions, the ways of life of the groups in the mountain regions of the Near East, also through multidisciplinary analyses and microarchaeological techniques, the study of ceramics and glyptics and their iconographic repertoire, both through traditional methods and through mathematical-statistical analysis. Since 1984 she has participated in excavations and surveys in Iraq (Karrana), Turkey (Arslantepe), Syria (Tell Leilan) and has contributed to related publications. From 1997 to 2010 she was vice-director of the Ca' Foscari team in the excavation of Tell Beydar (Syria). Since 2009 she has directed the Georgian-Italian Shida Kartli Archeological Project (excavations of Natsargora, Okherakhevi, Aradetis Orgora) and since 2018 the Georgian-Italian Lagodekhi Archaeological Project.

- She is the author of 6 monographs and about 120 articles and reviews in scientific journals, conference proceedings and miscellaneous volumes and has edited, alone or with others, 6 volumes of studies. She has organised national and international seminars and conferences and has been a member of the scientific committee of three international conferences. She has participated, upon invitation, in more than 50 national and international conferences and held courses and seminars at Italian and foreign universities. She is general editor of the "Araxes" series, member of the editorial board of the "Antichistica" and "Studia Asiana" series and of the "Rivista di Archeologia", she is a peer reviewer for the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (Georgia) and the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (Belgium), member of the MIUR/ANVUR reviewers' board, referee for numerous international journals.

- She has participated in national research projects (CNR, MURST 40%, PRIN, MAE); she was Team Leader of the ARCANE project (Europaean Science Foundation, 2006-2011), local coordinator of a PRIN project (2009), principal investigator of two University projects, recipient of MAECI funds and of grants from the White-Levy Program for Archaeological Publications (2010-12) and of the Humboldt Stiftung (2012).

- She was a member of the Teaching Committee for the Degree Courses in "Conservation of Cultural Heritage" (2006/2008) and "Conservation of Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts Management" (2008-2017), member of the Joint Committee of the School in Conservation and Production of Cultural Heritage (2014-2018) and of the Joint Committee of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage (2018-2020). She is coordinator of Erasmus exchanges (UCL London, Reading, Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne) and Erasmus +ICM (Georgia).
