My colleague Jo Ann Titmarsh has organised your practice hours (esercitazioni) as follows:

Dear Students

Welcome back to university after the break.

Here are the course times and days for my English courses. You can choose to take one ten-week course (B2 or C1) OR you can take the two five-week courses (which are available in period 3 and repeated in period 4). Of course, you are welcome to take all the courses if you want to (but you can only get a maximum of two bonus points to add to the final exam result)! Please note that you cannot take one lesson a week from one course and one from another – you need to follow the entire syllabus.

If you attend my courses (with a minimum of sixteen lessons), you can take the oral exam with me. If you are a non-attender or miss too many lessons, you will take the oral exam with Professor Phillips.

All the Zoom sessions, course information and extra materials can be accessed on the Gruppo A page.

Upper-intermediate Course

This course aims to help students with their presentation skills (based on TED talks) and grammar. Two slots per week for ten weeks. This is for students who are at a B1-B2 level.

We will be using Keynote Upper-Intermediate, Split Edition A (Cafoscarina should have copies. A digital version of the book is also available)

If you attend a minimum of sixteen lessons (or 8 weeks), you will get two bonus points to add to your exam result.

Advanced Course

This course aims to help students with their presentation skills (based on TED talks) and grammar. Two slots per week for ten weeks. Only students with a valid B2 certificate (not the Europass) can attend.

We will be using Keynote Advanced, Split Edition B (Cafoscarina should have copies. A digital version of the book is also available)

If you attend a minimum of sixteen lessons (or 8 weeks), you will get two bonus points to add to your exam result.

Academic Writing

This is a five-week course aimed at helping students learn how to write for academic purposes: punctuation, paragraphing, formal/informal styles, different essay types, how to write a bibliography, etc. The course will be repeated in the 4th period. All course material supplied by the teacher. B2-C1 level.

If you attend a minimum of eight lessons, you will get one bonus point to add to your exam result.

Business Skills

This is a five-week course aimed at helping students learn skills useful for the world of work: emails (formal and informal), CVs, cover letters, formal reports, performance appraisals, etc. The course will be repeated in the 4th period. All course material supplied by the teacher. B2-C1 level.

If you attend a minimum of eight lessons, you will get one bonus point to add to your exam result.
