Projects

CSAR organizes art exhibitions, cultural events and projects aimed at promoting Russian culture in Italy and Europe. The centre conceived and co-organised numerous festivals of art film, theatre and music performances, and supported different fields of artistic production, both independently and in collaboration with other institutions..
Exhibitions
Numerous exhibitions curated by CSAR, independently or in collaboration with cultural institutions, reflect the key-missions of the Centre: to implement the network of museums, cultural foundations and artists in Russia and Italy; to introduce the Italian audience to Russian arts, culture and history; to develop new approaches to public programmes and educational multimedia installations; to enhance the potential of the University exhibition venues, in accordance with Ca’ Foscari’s main aim “to display the research”.

Many conferences were followed by timely publication of the proceedings and research papers collections. The Centre has also consolidated its long-time partnership with the State Institute for Art Studies (SIAS) of the Russian Ministry of Culture in the organization of research events and programmes, such as the joint international PhD school in art history Ca' Foscari – SIAS.

Pump the volume! Alza il volume! ПРИБАВЬ ЗВУК!
In this computer age of ours we often watch videos with low volume, sometimes even on mute. Yet there are videos which one cannot really understand this way. One just has to turn up the volume.
Pump the volume! is an online project consisting of short films and video art by contemporary artists where music and sound play the key role.
In this programme we will meet composers, musicians and artists.
Every month will be dedicated to one of our guests. Every week we will show video interviews and artworks screened online.
The programme will allow you to enter a space where the magic of sound and image creation happens, learning more about the relationships between artists and composers, and finding out what, among others, a political score is, or whether opera can be hidden in a pocket.
All this and much more in the programme "Pump up the volume", realised by the Centre for Studies in Russian Art at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

Project "Russian Cultural Mission in Venice”
The project has been carried out in the last 14 years in Venice and other cities in northern Italy during the final days of the Venice Carnival.
It was launched by the Centre of Film Festivals and International Programmes and by the association “Venice – Russia” in order to promote cultural exchange between the two northern capitals of Russia and Italy, Venice and St Petersburg. Over the years, new partners and members have joined the project.
Among the participants of the project are groups from different areas of Russia, such as the Republic of Bashkiria, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Khakassia, North Ossetia-Alania and cities, such as Omsk, St Petersburg and Moscow.
Since 2015, the events of cultural mission have been organised not only in Venice, but also in other cities in northern Italy.
